Saitek x52 Pro profile

Hi, gents and ladies.

Finally, I have found time to get reintroduced into Elite Again.
I also happen to have according to the title, a Saitek x52 Pro.

I was wondering if anyone with a half-decent .pr0 file would lower themselves to upload a copy here.
I have tried to find one throughout the interwebs, put I come up empty handed.

Yes, I could make one myself from scratch, but it really consumes time, if doing it from scratch. I do reminisce from my old X2/X3-days that it was more tweaking than playing. Right now, I'd like to just throw myself into my piloting-chair and take off. (-remembering buttons by it self is a tuff job)

So... Any gentle pilots out there in the void Space that could upload a set of instructions for my engine?

It would be much appreciated, and I believe there are more people out there, that would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance. :)

Suggestions:

1) Don't use the Saitek profiler.

2) Adopt the default Frontier controls.

3) Add the missing bindings for things like scoops etc.

4) Take some screen shots in case you need to re-configure in the future.

It's not nearly as bad as it first looks and the more the default layout you adopt the easier it is to replicate, should you need to in the future.

If you don't use VoiceAttack get on it! ;) You will then make your profile your own and could be why there's not a whole list of responses to your request i.e. (most people probably end up with a unique and personal binding with Elite Dangerous).

If you need any specific help, message anytime.

Ok. I propably will have to do it that way. I just wanted to use the profiler, due to the ability of the stick, to use three different modes. For instance 'combat', 'flight' and a third.

No biggie. I will sort it out.
I started with the standard E:D template, but it was missing a lot.
took me a while to figure out how to operate landing gears. :D
Not to mention getting the galaxy map onscreen. -and so on and so forth. :S

That has been sorted, and I will continue my pflight of tweaking my throttle, and adjusting my .

Still: if anyone DO have a .pr0, I wouldn't mind having a looksie at it.
Importing a E:D default map into the profiler, do save me some time, regarding all the different axis-settings and other obscure, but practical tweaks.

(following are mostly default ED and my setup)

ED default profile is pretty good, I love the pinky finger function, with it in and using the silver hat on joystick, you get to open the UI panels on the left and right.

Remember to disable the clutch from the saitek control panel, then you can use the mouse controls on the throttle, e.g. press mouse button on throttle and the silver hat on joystick, that is your headlook.

THROTTLE
======
the slider can be used for frameshift or radar range
someone is using the rotary on the E button for cargo scoop open and close.
D button = reverse maybe
I button= boost ?
mouse wheel click= flight assist toggle
the black hat by default is used for strafing in 3D(preset by ED) , superb for docking

JOYSTICK
======
the 2 buttons on the right of the silver hat= target ahead and nearest target ?
black flat button on left of silver hat=cycle fire groups
black hat=left/right prev/next sub system , down/up prev/next hostile

the 3 switches on the base plate gives you 6 bindings, radar can be put here, landing gear, silent running , deploy hardpoints , lights or anything else you want
:)

p.s. I have the original X52 Pro , in case yours is different coloured, when I say silver hat on joystick, I mean the one below the covered fire button

1) Don't use the Saitek profiler.

Each to their own, but if you want any controls to perform macros or want to use the different modes of the stick effectively, you're kinda stuck with using the profiler.

2) Adopt the default Frontier controls.

I found myself changing more than half of these, to be honest. After some frustration I adopted an alternative approach that I'll outline below.

3) Add the missing bindings for things like scoops etc.

It was making these bindings "sensible" that led to me changing the default controls around a lot.

4) Take some screen shots in case you need to re-configure in the future.

^^THIS. Do not forget this step.

My alternative approach:

I begin with the game configured for keyboard/mouse control and adjust the bindings to be "easy to remember" rather than "good ergonomics", removing the bindings from directional control altogether so I can re-use those keystrokes as I see fit later. These keystrokes will later form the basis for any advanced stick profiling.

Next, I bind (in-game) the directional axes and add (not replacing the existing keystrokes) all stick button bindings that will always be the same whichever mode the stick is in. The game is now fully playable with the unprofiled stick, you just don't have any of the advanced functionality.

Finally I run the profiler, configuring mode switching, macros and buttons that I want to have different functions in different modes using the keystrokes that I bound in-game.

Thanks.

This is great info.
The process becomes easier with this kind of inputs.

Edited in; Yes, I have the original pro with silver HAT.

-and I laughed at this comment; "^^THIS. Do not forget this step." (regarding screenshooting the settings)

I learnt it the hard way last night, I had tweaked the settings a bit, progressed through a couple of tutorials, and all of the sudden my throttle died. -And in Space, nobody hears You cry, drifting into the void... ...never to be seen Again.
More exact, I weren't even able to take off... (the settings were not 'just' reset, but my throttle axis-inputs, of which I hadn't touched, were gone.)

^^This seems to be the way I will do it to, it gives room for trial and error, tweaking the profile, which is, afterall, not priority over actually playing the game. I will also remove unneccesary directional bindings. That was a mighty good idea. It gives a wide opportunity to throw more onto the stick through the different modes, without having to use shift. Lovely.

I know this is an old post, but I have recently found an ED profile (.pr0 file) for the X52 Pro. Click here to see Saitek's profiles page. BTW, the ED profiles included in the download also support the X-56 Rhino, X-55 Rhino and X52.
