Saitek X52Pro Throttle and Rudders Software

Hello Commanders.

Stopped playing around 2018, have had many thoughts of starting again the last few years, and now i finally made the step. The old lifetimepass is still valid, the game is installed, and i have made some babysteps starting up again.

What i knew was gonna be a big problem is getting my old HOTAS up and running again. I bought Mechwarrior 5 some years back thinking that it would be great to use the joysticks for that, but i never got it running because i couldnt find drivers/software.

Saiteks site dead. Logitechs full of e. Madcatz dead.

I managed to find some drivers from 2014 on an old backupdrive but very unsure i have what i need. I am getting most functions to registrer in the game, but some crucial ones does not.

Found this tread but i cannot make any of that work. The link to Chaoswullfs old video has dead links in it.

What to do?

So, the Saitek FTP site is still active - I downloaded X52PRO HOTAS drivers from there not too long ago. Seem to work fine for me in Windows 10, and there are 32-bit as well as 64-bit versions available. Having a look right now, I can see there are some rudder files as well, though i haven't used those.

You'll need to connect to ftp://ftp.saitek.com to download them, anonymous access. The files will be in "/pub/software/full/X52PRO/" and "/pub/software/full/RudderPedals/".

Hope that helps some! Might be worth someone backing these up if anyone has somewhere to host them!

Thanks for reply!

I went in on that FTP and brought home the files. Will try them later tonight
Noticed that they are much older than the files i am using now so probably will not solve it.
The main problem i have is that certain keys on the throttle will not be recognized by the game, see attached image.

They are the the "mousescroll+click" directly under/on your indexfinger, (19) on the picture
The "rightclick" directly on your thumb (16) on the picture
The short slider above your thumb (Slider) on the picture

I saw somewhere else that others also have problems with getting parts of the stick and trottle to work.

Trying files from the FTP later tonight, will report back.

IIRC, the right-click button defaults to clutch mode, which the game doesn't recognise. You need to turn clutch mode off in the driver software for it to work.

Hmm, thats odd. I'm using version 7.0.53.6 (x64 versions of driver and software, on Windows 10) from there and I've got all the controls working fine with no real setup beyond that, as I recall.

Is your X52Pro still behaving the same way as the previous drivers you tried - or have these new drivers changed the bahviour in any way? If there was no change with the new drivers, then perhaps the slider/wheel have broken somehow? Difficult to tell sadly.

Win11 supports my X56 just fine without ANY mfr specific drivers. Are you sure you need them?

I expect they will just be treated like a couple of generic joysticks (with a lot of buttons and switches)... Does the Win 11 Joystick Panel see them? If so, you should be good to go without mfr specific drivers. Many, including Saitek/Logitech, just stopped making specific driver packages as the Win native stuff works just fine...

Thanks again for replying.

It is hard to get a grip on this, all i know is that in 2017-2018, everything was working. Now, these 3 buttons are not working. They are not broken, they light up and show correct movement/reaction in the joy.cpl window.

There are a few more things i discovered that are strange but no need to dive into until the above is solved (ok, briefly, was out on a premiere run in the scarab, throttle absolute crazy, minimum throttle is like full throttle, and no, it is not inverted, it gets even higher with max throttle)

Hey, thanks for replying, have not mentioned yet that i am on Win 10, dont know if that makes a difference....
I might in the end try to uninstall drivers (although when i go to the uninstall part of control panel, only one joy-related item exists, Saitek DirectOutput 5.7.0.1.24, strange)
I suspect that the system is now fouled up with many attempts to install versions, so might be hard to get "clean" again, but i will try.

Doesn't the logitech drivers work as they now sell the products. I believe they are still the same.

I have a saitek x56 rhino which works fine with the logitech drivers and software.
When logi bought them I grabbed their drivers and it worked just fine. Just have to remember to switch it on or some of the buttons aren't recognized.
I have moved on from x52 since, but they were good to me when I had them.

That is the behaviour of the SRVs when Drive Assist is on, in that mode the throttle basically sets a speed and the SRV tries to go at that speed immediately.
Drive Assist OFF lets you power up and down smoothly and lets the SRV coast at zero throttle until it stops or you use the brake or blip reverse.
Drive Assist can be set to toggle on or off and either remembers the last setting or the default can be set in the bindings, it is years since I set it up and can't remember the details, but it is so much better in DAoff.
