Hardware & Technical Saitek X55 Hardware Help

So I just bought a Saitek X55 HOTAS and I am having issues getting it working. I am running an ASUS PB Z77-V LX Motherboard that has two USB 3.0 ports. I installed the drivers and the throttle is working perfectly. I double checked this by going into the Mad Catz calibration software and tried clicking all the buttons on the throttle. The stick itself is a whole different ball game. The only thing that the Mad Catz software is reading is the yaw control (when I twist the clockwise and counter clockwise). No other buttons or movements are being read by my system. I went the ASUS and downloaded and installed the lasted USB chipset drivers for my motherboard and that didn't help either.

I've read about issues with the X55 having to be ran through USB 3.0 because it may not pull enough power else where. Interestingly, I had the same problem with the flight stick when I had it plugged into a USB 2.0 port. Has anyone else dealt with this issue or know of a way to get my stick working? I really want to get involved in Elite:Dangerous so this is beyond frustrating.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi
I've got the X55, but after reading bits on the forum, the advice seemed to be, install the drivers but not the other software.
Having done this, I don't have a problem with my set up.
You could try, uninstalling & start again.
I hope this helps

Cruise,

Thanks for the quick response! How do you calibrate the stick if you do not have the other software installed? I will try starting over as well as uninstalling the Mad Catz software. I'll let you know how it works out.

I just simply selected 'X55' from the 'controls' drop down in 'options'menu in ED.
You can assign functions to buttons as you wish, it will then show as 'custom' in the drop down, but works fine after you've pressed the 'apply' button.

There are commanders on here, with a lot more technical knowledge than myself, so worry not as the forum is a helpful place.

Happy to help

Unfortunately that did not work. I am still getting the same old barrel roll when I go into the simulator. It is almost as if the base of the stick is not reading the stick once it is screwed onto the base. I'm kind of at a loss here. I'm by no means an expert on joysticks but I do build my own rigs and am decently tech savvy. I'm wondering if I have a defective unit or if there is really something I am doing wrong here. :/

I have X55 too (for a short time) and I didn't need any calibration. Why you need it? Do you have any issue with axises?

Well the stick is not working properly. When I enter the game, none of the buttons will fire. I'm only using the Mad Catz software right now to test the buttons. The only thing that the stick will actually read is the yaw left and right. No buttons will fire, no forward or lateral movement is registering. I have no clue what is going on with it. It is brand new btw.

Windows 7? With X-55 drivers installed go to Control Panel, Devices and Printers, right click on a controller, Game Controller Settings, Properties. Use this page to calibrate/test each controller. If it doesn't work here it won't work in ED or any other game.

I'm actually going to be returning this item as I believe it is faulty. I found some feedback from Saitek support (which isn't the best from what I hear) that had detailed instructions on how to "properly" install the drivers and software. Bottom line is that it should be working and it isn't I will return it and perhaps try another X-55 to see how that works out. If I get the same issue, I'll have to go in a different direction and search for another HOTAS setup.
