It's too easy. Drew says "Salome is dead." But what was Salome ever but an alter-ego, a nom-de-guerre? Perhaps Salome is dead, I have a feeling the person who was Salome may live on . . .
When was the last time you actually "died" in Elite: Dangerous? According to in-game lore, when you hear the ship's AI screaming "Eject! Eject! Eject!" the next thing that is supposed to happen is: the CMDR's escape-pod is instantly ejected with the defeated CMDR sealed inside, in hibernation, to drift in space until either the escape-pod is salvaged and sold into slavery (where a lot of slaves apparently come from) or, the power source runs out and the CMDR dies alone and unknown drifting between the stars OR, like our escape-pods it is "rescued" (salvaged) for the reward placed on it by your lawyer and returned to its most recent port of call where it is opened and we are allowed to continue playing the game.
Heck, one of my ships "died" last night, to the tune of over 7 million credits and yet here I am, very much "alive", new ship paid for and two more CMDRs with a wide, yellow stripes down their backs added to my "Naughty:KOS" list.
In fact, one of the little contradictions that has always bugged me about ED is that the game tells me "You have been killed by CMDR X" after my ship is destroyed even though the in-game lore and the actual game mechanic contradicts this.
After a ship is blown up it should more properly say:
"Your ship Wound Too Tight was destroyed by CMDR X".
But anyhow, I digress: I have not seen any Corpus Dilicti (no dead body!) that would tend to confirm the death of Salome. :x Until I see Salome's corpse or someone can bring me the head of Salome to see for myself, I do not accept reports of her death.
And since it would make no sense to have a CMDR destroy her ship just to have her sold into slavery or to die a cold and lonely escape-pod death in space, I will go with option #3: Rescued. o7
