Salome Reborn!

Only one question:
If Salome was killed by "glitchy-cheated engineered ship" (It's just a hypothesis, I won't accuse anyone) should she be resurrected?

No, she was dead anyway, the pilot was doing a very poor job and was doomed from the start.

huh? You realize she had spent 2 hours surviving constant interdictions and attacks and was only cornered due to a bug, and died to a cheater using exploited ship? would love to see someone else do a better job. consider this - whole event was to tell a compelling story to end a book

To OP, no she's dead. Cheated and killed by exploit or not, story is written and cannot be changed. everything that went on during event, all the lies and boasting from the cheaters etc, and the nonsense about conspiracies all adds to overall story and makes it more interesting.

No one will know full truth and she's better off dead for story sake than to bring her back on technicality

In the land of "should" the whole event would be carried out again so that honest players could determine the outcome. But in the land of "Drew has already finished the book" I think the most likely outcome is a quick edit to remove any references to cheating players or groups.

Salome event is like JFK event :D . No one will know full truth and she's better off dead for story sake than to bring her back on a technicality

When's the last time you have repeatedly crashed into a star, or when not doing that burned up on fuel scoop? When you get pulled by someone that can mass lock you do you low wake or high wake?

Anyone could have done a better job, I could have, you could have, most people could have that actually played the game.

(Also I just think we should not resurrect her to avoid another month of forum craziness.)

We don't know that, but we DO know it was a cheater in a cheat-ship did it.

Actually we do know the pilot did a bad job, from hitting and overheating into stars, and doing low wakes instead of high. Also choosing the wrong evasive manuevers. The opponent exploited, but if not him someone else would have easily killed her.

According to her assassin, the whole Event was rigged. But then again, I wouldn't off trust the word of a cheating ganker. But assuming he's telling truth, she would have died anyway.

Yep this is dilemma, because Salome was killed with usage of tools which are "out of game universe". Cheaterly rolled modules are not valid action in Elite universe, furthermore it shows direct influence of outside world.

Pilot error was the biggest cause of death, but I like the proposal of revisiting the idea of book inclusion for the killer because of exploiting.

But should the book give credit to someone who cheated? An interesting dilemma for the author that he did not foresee ;)

Good Thing they renamed the assassin character for Copyright reasons. Only on the Forums, the prominent wizard I'm talking about should take back his old Name, because the Name he wears is from a character from the book, not from a real-life cheating ganker.

Wasn't the Cmdr who claimed the traitor Salome's bounty originally supposed to protect her?

Would people be calling for a change to rewrite history if she survived due to that same Cmdr?

Hmmm so you've had experience of being hunted and chased down by hundred of players, many organized pvp groups, for hours and you know your char death is perma death. Then you understand pressure and adrenalin. If you make no mistakes under that condition you must have nerves of steel, or care little about story you're writing and character you created?

under that stress and conditions, no one could do better.. Go Organize 3000 player event and put your char in ironman mode to be hunted, and prove us wrong :)

My opinion wouldn't change one bit if that were the case. Cheaters shouldn't determine an event like this, although it's unfortunately most likely too late to do more than scrub their names.

Not the permadeath part, but as a pirate with at times sizabale bounties yes, I have been chased constantly. I also have yet to die in my pirate Asp despite this.

Nah the book should just read "Out of the black depths of space, the evil Clipper dripping with exploits emerged with a fierce 650MS of pure exploited dirty drive rage! or something more literal.

I think a name scrub is not implausible, changing the story yes though.
