Salty XBONE players

I'm not gonna lie I'm mad at frontier. First off I wish I could transfer my elite save to pc because I can't and won't restart my game to play on pc, that being said why does PlayStation get HOTAS support but xbone gets the short end of the stick. I know xbone has some limitations graphics wise but it also made me mad that they said ps4 gets a pc equivalent of elite. what about xbone "SCORPIO" is that going to get the whole game like ps4? Pc is the foundation of elite and the best way to play no debate there but xbone is a huge player base and I personally feel a bit alienated by frontier. My solution is for frontier to make us have the ability to transfer our accounts to a different platform even if that means only keeping basic stuff like rank, credits, that sort of thing. I'm nearly triple elite and I'm not starting over in a sidewinder.

Um... wow....

Alrighty: In the past it's been possible to do a 1 time transfer from pc to xbox or vice versa provided you bought the game twice. This just transferred credit balance/ship assets and not rep etc. However, they may not be offering that particular deal anymore as its a fair bit of work for them given the number of developers vs the number of players. A support ticket request would be the way to go there.

Hotas support isn't Elite. Thats a Sony and microsoft thing, go be mad at them. It's really surprising since microsoft has the whole pc connection yet seems almost opposed to bringing increased parity to the xbox. Who knows why but it's hardly Frontiers fault. Its the same as that Mac (Apple) don't support Open GL meaning Frontier can't make Horizons compatible. The people that suffer are the players but it's not Frontiers fault, I'm sure they'd love to sell more copies to the Mac players.

Xbox has the equivalent of PC Elite game but not at highest graphics you are correct, also pc can edit the files and mod the settings slightly to make it better if the pc can handle it.. PS4 and PS4pro have been around for a while so both get supported with the PsPro being slightly better accordingly to it's increased capabilities (be silly not to). Elite probably will support the Scorpio but not straight away as it'll need time to be developed, I mean they support most other things and it's hard to see why not. I mean the architecture of scorpio can't be that different to the standard xbone, just up the settings, few tweaks to the code most likely and off we go hopefully only a few months after launch..

Also asking nicely instead of a minor rant would get you better answers. I was tempted to just be sarcastic and not give decent advice but hey ho, everybody gets one.

You can tranfer to pc if you want, contact support. Before you go off on a rant, do your research. This has been posted on the xbox boards at least twice in the last week.

I switched from xbone to PC. You can keep your credits. You just have to file a ticket and they'll transfer what's in your bank plus the value of all your assets to your new PC account.

But that's it. All other progress (ranks, engineer unlocks, etc) are set back to zero. It was painful to get it all back, but I enjoyed it. I looked at it as a fresh start and had a blast.

I'm pretty certain Microsoft has said Scorpio will support all games currently supported on the Xbox One. And yes, it's the Microsoft tree to bark up with regard to HOTAS or any other controls that are or aren't supported on XBox 360, XBox One, XBox Scorpio, or any future console MS decides to market.

I think you need to moan at Microsoft, as HOTAS support is initiative between console manufacturer and HOTAS manufacturer, doesn't have much to do with game developer.

PS4 had HOTAS support before Elite Dangerous in War Thunder.

PS3 had HOTAS support as well, pretty sure it's exactly the same stick with different colour highlights.

OP, this is a serious offer. If you want help getting into PC gaming, I'm willing to help you. Frankly the platform has never been better.

you show me a MS supported flight stick and then you have an argument. FWIW I was salty when it turned out my £500 xbox 360 racing wheel was incompatible with the xbox 1 thanks to them changing how the controllers worked.... I get why the wireless wouldnt work, but then why not support wired usb like when I use said wheel on pc?

if you want to be mad at someone , be mad at MS. still no harm done. after my initial dissapoinment, the XB1 launched and it was such weak sauce that I didn't want one anway ;) (and the ps4 not much better - I AM liking the pro however and may pick one of those up for the exclusives but I digress)

I have one of those, a Saitek Av8r-02 for Xbox 360, is a great flight stick supported by Microsoft. Sadly the same issue as you had with your racing wheel, does not work on Xbox one. Neither does my fight stick or any of my 360 peripherals. So I just wait until an Xbox one stick is released, in the meantime I dont mind using a controller.

Really unclear to me why MS doesn't have support for HOTAS. Seems like a no brainer to me since they already support a good selection of racing wheels.

It isn't really that big of leap, software wise, is it?

Microsoft are too in house Forza and Gears of war fixated to see outside the box when it comes to hardware support.

Keyboards are also text only input and no mouse support due to their stance on third party peripherals giving some imagined advantage on their closed and exclusive gaming network of Xbox live. Even the Elite controller with it's additional flappy paddles underneath can't be remapped and basically only mimic the button inputs on the Xbox... I use an Elite controller for some FPS and driving games on the PC...simply because I have the choice to do so, unlike the Xbox.

I had quite enough of Microsoft's short sighted approach to both their gaming community and their lack of peripheral support taken for granted by not only PC gamers, but by other consoles like the PS4...

That's why I've returned to PC gaming after over 10 years on the Xbox.

Not really meaning to defend MS limiting peripherals, but it's worth mentioning that the advantage isn't imaginary when it comes to FPS games. A M+KB user is at a colossal advantage over somebody playing with a controller. Letting people use M+KB would basically force them to either bundle one with the consoles or drop the idea of having multiplayer FPS games on them.

I would probably look to Microsoft for the answer to this one rather than FD. If a HOTAS setup were possible on XBone I'm fairly sure FD would have supported it. It's more likely that the XBone simply can't support a HOTAS setup.

Saying that, it has the requisite number of axis and a reasonable amount of buttons for somebody to design an XBone HOTAS setup. Have you looked for one?
