Salvage mission

I found some salvage mission - to find and bring back black box etc

How do I find it when they only give me star system?

WARNING!

Don't accept any of these missions (Black box, Rebel Transmissions etc)! They are bugged, even if you find the right cargo, there will be a server error.

Spend time doing something else until this is resloved! I've spent over an hour getting rebel transmissions, and couldn't complete mission. Many other commanders report the same.

Trashberg is right but for your information it is located in the "unidentified signal source". After several attempt i found one but couln't give the cargo. I'm waiting for a fix.

OK, so if they say, it's lost in Chumaku system, then I need to fly around there and look for USS? That is a apin, there woould be lots of those..Naah.. I better get back to trading:)
Thanks for explanation guys!

I like how all the different missions end up being just fetch missions like the other missions.
fetch me 3 potions, really?

Well yes and not for much money. After i picked up the black box, my cargo was full of stolen goods and no black market in sight. Great! :D

Did you find the black box floating in a USS? I note it says the mission is considered illegal, and wasn't sure if I had to blow someone up to leave the black box behind, or if I would just find one in a USS among a wreck - inquiring minds want to know!

It is marked illegal because everytime you pick up something in space, it is marked as "Stolen". So be prepared to go "silent running" if the station where you are going to drop the cargo has security forces around it. Otherwise they will scan you and you'll have to pay a fine. Probably more than the mission is worth.

So, when exiting supercruise at the destination station, if it is an Orbis or large station (outposts are safe, no security there), keep your distance to 6 km or above and find the entrance. Check your heat, let it set at ~50%. Request docking when in front of the entrance (at 6 km) and start going forwards. When you can see the security forces on scanner and on the contact list, they can also see you. Now you turn on "silent running". This will keep you below radar, so they won't scan you. But it will build up heat pretty fast. Make it quick through the entrance, and once inside turn off Silent running and vent out that heat. You can go up to 150% before taking damage. Don't use boost when in silent mode, that will add too much heat to your ships interior. Dock and complete mission.

The same goes for carrying all types of stolen cargo, so keep an eye on your hold and try to check which commodities are illegal in the systems you are visiting. Otherwise there will be nasty surprises.

TY!

And talking of scans at stations - I got scanned at an outpost. I have never been scanned at an outpost before now. Interesting. Word of warning to pilots seeking black markets there. Now, this was an official and not unsanctioned outpost, maybe the unsanctioned remain scan free?

Did you see any security forces around the outpost? I thought they are the only ones performing scans, not the station itself. If there were security, then just pay attention and try to minimize you heat signature. If there were no sceurity, then hey... Stations and Outposts apparently can perform scans!
