Was mining today at Delkar 7 A ring and found lots of Samarium. Also try the Asteroid belts near the main star too.

If you want to find Pristine Metallic Rings you can try the various online resources. I have written one, you can find it here:

Just type in your location and it will list the rings from nearest to furthest to your location.

No. As far as I know you can only find platinum canisters that way.

Have not seen Samarium on a planet surface myself. It's "possible" you might find it in cannisters at a POI because it's a commodity, not a material (you won't find it from shooting outcrops and meteorites).

So you could find a mission for mining platinum that offered samarium as a reward.
