Same feeling of excitement as I had in 1993.

I just found an original copy of my Nov 1993 CU Amiga magazine preview of Frontier Elite II. I have the same excitement and anticipation for Elite Dangerous as I did for Frontier. I sank 8 years into that game. You can see the same magazine archive that sold me the game on http://amr.abime.net/review_3406 . Re-reading it almost makes me want to play Frontier again and now we have the modern version I have waited for so long soon to come :D

A few months ago I had the first late night "just one more trade" thought. That sense of jeopardy and vulnerability when you've invested more than you can really afford on a trade run is there too.

This is Elite.

Yay, good games are tremendous value when you look at it like that and think what else you can spend similar money on for very short term and limited entertainment..... movies, round of drinks, over priced coffee etc etc.

Absolutely OP. Last night I was... "Just one more jump..."

Ended up at Arcturus at 4am. In work at 9.30.. there but for the grace of caffeine go I!! :)

Haha - I sat down for a 10 minute spin yesterday morning - finished playing at 9.30 last night. 11 hours straight through! Not done that since, well, the last time I played Elite.

Lol, I really want to do this, I used to love those 'into the early hours' sessions, I think I will do it but would have to book the next day off work, my body can't handle it!!
