Same Planet in both Odyssey & Horizons

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey - Post Launch.
Comparing the same planet surface in both Odyssey and Horizons, on foot, in SRV and from the ship.
The new planetary tech is really disappointing up close.

to answer one question. The new planetary generation has been slated bigtime. Their fixing it apparently.
The pixilated surface on approach is appalling. But once your on the surface it's better. All of horizons planets felt the same to me.
Perhaps cos I couldn't leave the ship.
One big problem is finding a moon/planet that has an atmosphere.
I've checked dozens In the last week's and found only 2 with a faint red glow.
0.01 they say. So with that in mind it should be easy.
Landables are denoted by a blue arc same as horizons. But what are the blue circles 'within' alot of bodies?
I'll plug on hehe.

the blue circles tell you the planet has an athmosphere. so if you have a blue circle and a blue arc its a landable athmo world

FDevs should seriously consider migrating Elite Dangerous to Unreal Engine now that it can create procedural planets and has VR support build into the engine. Just look how great it looks. Wouldn't it be great to see such planets in ED?

This is a vid of a developer hand placing a bunch of assets on a EU5 terrain. And half of his buildings are half covered in earth.

It does look great but imagine hand placing all the settlements in ED.

Once you leave the bubble there can be plenty. I have found (and honestly cant remember the system since they were undiscovered when I stumbled on them a week or so ago) systems that have almost all atmospheric on both moons and main bodies. I have even popped onto a couple of .08 atmospherics and a few .09's. I think 2 of which were extremely red skied. When I found it I noted it as being Argon atmosphere but I am not sure if that has changed with the latest patch nor have I tested to confirm it.

Yes finding both landable and atmospheric planets/moons is difficult, there is not many around. Started a new series on just atmospheres, here is a CO2 one

And an Ammonia atmosphere coming up. Be good if the atmospheres were thicker, some probably are.

That's good to know, think I'll pop out of the bubble in my Asp and see what I can find :)
