Samsung GearVR and Elite Dangerous

Well i got it work, but after having a DK2 wich i sold way to low and too early. it was a bit of a let down, think of this as a 3d movie theather playing ED. the mouse movement made me want to instant vomit. but i got to say that the Desktop on StreamTheater is awsome. still April can`t come fast enought.

Yeah I agree that the StreamTheater isn't ideal at the moment. In the end I've used a different setup following this really well done tutorial - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol2WdOKK8Aw (check his comments as well). I've adjusted the curves to my personal pref, but overall it is working very well. Keep in mind that the FreePie is part of your download for OpenTrack and the version included in there is working great. I hope this helps to some while the Theater is broken, but in the mean time I'm surely having fun. When the CV1 is locally available and ED supports it I will surely give it a try, but for now it is much better experience then my projector.

You will need the app disabler for this to make sure that you don't get occulus apps when you plug into you Gear VR. I've used Package Disabler Pro and it works just fine

From the tutorial, is it simular to a dk2 setup, meaning you`re in the cockpit or more like a 3d movie with headtacking. ?

In a cockpit, if you follow all the steps you will be literally in the cockpit instead of the broken StreamTheater which sadly doesn't work in the VR mode at the moment. (hopefully fix is on the way) but it works great with Trinus if you follow the guys tutorial. All I had to do was adjust the curves for headtracking to act more to my liking, but that is down to personal preference. The tutorial does bring Elite Dangerous to VR phone experience. My standard measured latency is 20-27 ms for those who wonder what is the latency, so it is slightly noticable, but nothing that would affect my ability to play it in VR.

ALSO - DO NOT FORGET TO ADJUST THE 3D lense values for Gear VR - the downloaded version isn't fully optimazed for GearVR - I found that the Oculus DK2 values (written above the line to edit in the oculus file worked the best. More about it in here http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=120&t=21174

Can you go in to more detail of where to find these files and how to edit them, or better yet copy your settings? I got everything working but the lens correction is off for my note 5 and gear vr. I have been to the MTBS website and read that thread a bunch of times and there is nothing about dk2 values.

TriniusVr on the Gear works much better than it used to, at least on tethering.
For the USB pass thru since the GearVr does not allow it, try this work around:

Also the Note4 works fine with it, you just need to cut away some plastics to make it fit. The corners are fat. Software still works fine, with no issues

Get yourself a left angled mini usb and shove your phon in there and you can use it and charge at the same time.
Spent an entire night playing with the lensing before I found the split screen in Elite. So going to try launching in split screen and using Gear opt A in TriniusVR and see what happens.

heads up, it is a bit sharp unless dremel it down to a smoother level, but its on your head and your shouldn't be in danger of a cut except for when you place it in.
