Samsung Odyssey+ and text clarity?

Does anyone have any intel on this. General opinion is that the + version is better for movie watching as it "blurs" the pixels and minimises SDE, but does it "blur" text in Elite: Dangerous making it harder to read than say with the regular Samsung Odyssey?

Thanks in advance.

I have the Odyssey+ but can only compare it to the Rift. The Odyssey+ the screen is far better than the Rift, the screen door effect (SDE) is almost negligible. Text is slightly blurred although clearly readable, due to the technology used to reduce STD, but is again far better than the Rift. All text is readable without leaning in or modifying HUD colours. You can, from time to time see the effect of the Fresnel lenses, and the set is less comfortable to wear and less adjustable. I prefer the Rift's setup for wearability and adjustment.

I hope this helps.

It does, thanks. I don't mind the fresnel effects. Had them in my Vive, and they never bothered me. Text clarity and blacks are my main concern.

I have the Odyssey+ and a Lenovo Explorer.

Blacks are properly black and the colours are far more vibrant in the Odyssey+, very noticible when moving from one headset to the other.

Using the same settings including the change linked above by Pville_Piper the text clarity and reading the HUD is sharp in the lenovo and fuzzy in the Odyssey+, it's still very readable but it strains my eyes.
I also find the fresnel effect is far more pronounced and distracting in the Odyssey+, even just from the lighting around the joystick/throttle.

For me the Lenovo is better for Elite and the Odyssey+ for other games where there isn't such a contrast around light/dark scenes.
However, my head shape doesn't agree with the Odyssey+ at all. With no angle adjustment on the display or headband foam that can be repositioned I just cannot get a good fit with the display and have it be comfortable at the same time, it's so bad I'm going to sell it on.

So even though the Lenovo doesn't use OLEDs and has inferior blacks, you still prefer it over the Odyssey+ for Elite: Dangerous. Interesting feedback. Thanks.

Yeah, I'm a bit gutted it's not what I hoped. My most important concern is eye comfort and my eyes get tired quickly, like they're constantly trying to focus, using the Odyssey+. I do wonder if I'd get used to it, and the godrays, over time if I didn't have the Explorer to compare it to.

The black's on the Explorer are good, I don't think about them while using it, dark planets are properly dark. It's only in comparison to the Odyssey+ that I notice they're not as black as they could be. Also means you don't get black smearing on the Explorer.

This is my experience exactly with the Odyssey+.
