Samsung Odyssey won't work with steam VR

I have tried everything I can think of / read up on! Steam VR is just not recognising the headset! Installed steam wmr beta vr but still nothing. The headset works in the clubhouse thing but won't talk to steam. Am trying again on laptop...

Edit: had a LOT of issues with laptop also (not installing plug and play software), but a clean install of windows 10 fixed this. All is working now. PC remains unplayable though.

I have same head set, not had any issues with steam ! I would say install stem WMR beta but you have that, sorry not much help, other to say that it does work !

I had no issues getting the odyssey to run through steam VR that I could think of. Did you make sure steam vr is set to beta in the steam vr settings? Have you tried running the Hmd in direct mode. Settings > Enable direct mode

Not to be a Debby downer but I ran Elite with the Odyssey for 2 days before returning the thing. It was amazing when it worked.. For about 2-3 minutes but the tracking on that
HMD is just horrid. Inside-out tracking is a very neat concept but they really haven't nailed it yet. Or at least that particular head set.

I don't know if you made the same mistake as me (Lenovo Explorer): Launch ED, Go into Graphics Settings, Click on the 3D tab, select HMD.
Shut down ED, then Launch ED.

Yes. I don't know if your's the same problem I had, but I was unaware that ED needed to have HMD enabled until someone told me. After doing that, Launching ED made Steam VR activate (didn't need to start either WMD Portal or Steam VR), and I was in VR.

Ensure you have windows mixed reality for steam VR installed in addition to Steam VR (Beta for both is recommended).
After initial teething problems with the odyssey and the early versions of the WMR Steam software, this is now working incredibly well on my setup of 4670k and Samsung odyssey on a gtx1070. Will post my setup later today if that helps anyone.

Thanks but I think this is a different issue. Steam VR was already set for my oculus and Vive and I have three different versions of ED installed - standalone, oculus home, Steam. When I plug in the odyssey and run steam VR, even with the new steam wmr VR add on it says there is no headset connected. I also get a warning about mirroring to another monitor which maybe connected, but I can't find enough info online to solve either problem!
Seriously unimpressed with the Odyssey setup so far! :(

why on Earth did you install three version of the same game?
the standalone version works perfectly with oculus, vive and WMR.

Over the years, it just got easier having different versions, one for rift, one for vive and one for different account.
