Engineers San Tu Scientific Instalation

Hi Folks :)

I'm a bit confused, before the recent upgrade I could get some engineer data from the satellites positioned around the scientific installation.
When I went there recently it has all changed. Without giving too much away (I'm not sure if this question needs a spoiler link etc.) there seems to be a new set up. In short, I'm totally confused as to how you access any data there, I scan the transmitter, it opens up various objects (white squares) but when I scan those there doesn't seem to be any data to collect.
Can anyone enlighten me as to how or what I need to do here to collect any data.?

Any help appreciated. [smile]

i wouldnt know the awnser, but San Tu is anarchy now, so there are T9s that needs to be shot at there.

San Tu has been in anarchy for nearly forever , Love flying over with my Vette to re-stock on all manufactured items.
And to the first post yeah the satellites are gone & not really sure why they've been removed.

Hi All, :)

Ok, so I've been back to the system and scanning the actual scientific installation brings up various new targets. If I scan some of those (you have to go quite close to the data point to scan them) then a message appears telling you that you can scan 'sub targets'. If I select sub targets in the left hand menu usually just one appears, but I get no data as such as regards engineer data. It just tells me what those sub targets are. All pretty confusing at the moment.
On targeting one item though I get a verbal communication that lists various letters (Phonetic alphabet...Alpha, beta, Charlie etc.) and some numbers.
I've written them down, though some letters are not very clear audio wise.
There are 'cargo bays' that you can fly through, though at the moment they are empty?

Anyhow, perhaps it's me being a bit dumb!
If the moderators think this information needs a spoiler tag then feel free to put one in.:)

Sorry for waking up the dead, but was just glad to know Im not the only one... If there were satelites before, they sure are gone now. But the T9's are still there :D

1) Scan the installation with your data link scanner to reveal targets
2) Find a "private comms link" or something else that sounds data-like
3) Scan that with your data link scanner to reveal its subtargets
4) Cycle subtargets on it and fire a recon limpet at each one. <This is a hostile action, and illegal where applicable>
5) Receive high-grade data.

A few installations do have satellites but the comms links give much better data.

Hi Folks :)

Well, okay....I must be doing something wrong. Reading the latest info in this thread (Thanks for the info. Ian :) ) I kitted out my ship with a Recon. Module and went back to San Tu. I scanned the scientific installation and as before several sub targets appeared. I tried to deploy a limpet to the various targets but it came up with "Invalid Target", so I'm at a loss as to what is (or is not) happening.

I've a feeling that there is something so obvious here that I'm missing.:S...

1) Did you scan the appearing items with your data link scanner? This gets the sub-targets of the components to appear (or the sub-sub-targets of the installation, if you prefer)

2) Did you select the sub-sub-target before trying to fire the limpet?

3) Was the thing you were trying to fire the recon limpet at a data-type object? (hatch-type objects require hatchbreakers instead)

2) Did you select the sub-sub-target before trying to fire the limpet?

This is what I wasn't doing ....I was not selecting sub targets on my ships cockpit left hand menu........:D
Thanks for the info Ian, much appreciated. [up]

Just a little warning to other Commanders, you may get missiles fired at you when you finally get access to the data etc. ;) .....[big grin]

What kind of sorcery is this?
