So I'm working on my first sandbox park, and after working on it for a while I noticed I'm in Year 7. I've kept the park closed the entire time. I'm wondering.. when I finish and actually open the park, are guests going to come in like normal or am I going to be met with stuff like "guests think park is too old / ride X is not new" etc ?

You may need to refurbish your rides to restore the prestige system. As rides age they loose prestige. If you are playing on the PC version I think you can convert it to a scenario and reset all that when done, then back to a sandbox again, then open for an easier way.
I checked and the "refurbish" option was grayed out on every ride.. even though some of them had a prestige of 1-2 stars.. those were flat rides.. my custom ride was 3 stars. I guess that's a good thing?
Or do I need to hire a mechanic for that to be an option? i haven't bothered with staff yet

You only need to refurbish once they reach a certain age.
