Sap 8 Core Containers

I'm looking for Sap 8 Core Containers in game. I know they've been removed and re-implemented in game at some time in the past. As i understand they could be found being carried by "Military Couriers" in systems with one of the following faction states "war" or "civil war" or "war and civil war". I've lurked around in a handful of war and civil war stated systems but haven't found a "Military Courier" yet. The last time I recall having seen them was during the Mudhrid NMLA war CG. Any insight is helpful. o7

beside military couriers, USS convoy beacons of factions in war/civil war can also have them.
and military orbital installations irrc. https://eddb.io/attraction has a search for those.
my bubble commander is horizons only - it might be there are other sources in odyssey.
you can also revive this thread - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/questions-for-experienced-salvagers.549271 - chances are others collectors as me are still reading into it.
I will look into this. Solid intel. Thank you! o7

Go to the Gridge system and look for the military installation there, they are found inside the inner vault. It is a difficult thing to get them and get out alive but managing the internal turrets and using silent running should see you through.

o7 and good luck
Nothing found in several goes at it. I did, however see hafnium 178 (which i'vd seen on military couriers, along with sap 8 in the past). So, I don't know if there's some RNG involved or if the occurance of sap 8 is associated with faction states. Still no current evidence that the sap 8 spawns or if they're simply persisting in other CMDR's inventories.

odyssey or horizons?
generally yes, installation spawn is rng.
and i have seen a military convoy today in horizon.

Hi, yes the spawn is RNG, and it does not spawn a Sap 8 each time, however when they do spawn you can get as high as 4, make sure to check both vaults, one has very little spawns and the other is better. This is specific to Gridge, i used this one most because it seemed to not have a mission spawn, mission spawns usually swap the inventories of the vaults to something less rare.

I was out hunting these ships a couple of months ago. Too many PD turrets on the target ships. I tried disabling the engines, but ships took too much hull damage trying this. Is that what everyone else tries? Destroying the engines so they stop whaling on you while you're robbing them? =D

nah, i have stolen from them without firing a single shot using cold-running/silent-running, auto-resolve distance, positioning and 2a class 3 hatchbreakers to overwhelm the defences. i have detailed the process a bit here:
...
- it is possible, to steal from Private Courier Vessels instead of attack, if you don't interdict them, but wait and follow their low wake.

- Medium security gives enough time until system security shows up, to empty them and collect. Be aware system security will somehow ignore cold or silent running (because "npc eyeballing", as a dev has one said, and because npcs always go for players first). which means, when system security shows up be ready to jump out.

- process is pretty similar to stealing from installations, megaships or getting Thargoid Tissues - running cold, silent running during hatchbreaker phase and after that, always staying out of autoresolve distance and break target lock if you got into autoresolve.

- same can be done with convoys. if you want to test it before having to deal with system security, take any convoy in an anarchy system to check the process.

- The only difference to installations, megaships (both are broken at the moment) and thargoids is you'll have to run enough hatchbreaker limpet controllers to overpower the point defence, and you need to run a grade hatchbreakers as to get the reload times low enough. I'm doing it either in a cobra, or in a DBE with 2 3A hatchbreakers and a 1b collector, but i'm sure dolphin would be as good, and AspE might be even better (can't comment on its autoresolve distance, which might be higher due to size).

So if you prefer playing sneaky instead of going in guns blaizing and full pips to shields, or if you don't have a wingmate around - as piracy is a great coop gameplay - that might be an interesting way to go about it (it is for me).
