Sarah, it may be time to tone it down a bit.

I just entered one of the military strikes in LP 580-33, which Hudson is expanding into. I side with the defense force and target a Python. Now, I fly a python myself, albeit D-grade, but I was shredded.

After 30 seconds, not one kill, but 78% hull and a deep fear of the AI. I can't participate in PP with this hunk of junk xD

EDIT: This thread got big...

the Ai just loves teaming up on you and just you.

On my dropship, I find I now actually ahve to focus down the eagles and vultures before I target the pythons/condas else I get peppered down by the small fry.

I have to run when I get 2 pythons/condas firing on me when I focus on small fry though or try to "kite" them into friendly units to get some heat off me.

Not sure what your Python is rocking, but I run x3 Class 3 Gimbled Burst + x2 Class 2 Gimbled Pulse.
Class A Coupling and pretty much Class B everything else. (except shields, they are D)

Works a treat for me.

Maybe practice up on some RES for a bit, make some bucks and upgrade that badboy. :D

All I have to respond to this thread is I'm glad I'm not the only one that is thinking 'Sheesh! My shields are down again!'
:D

But....

Isn't this what everybody wanted?

:)

personally I'm still happy I can take out npc pirates with my T9 :D

I just killed a wing of 3. Mind you it wasn't too impressive considering what it actually was : a shieldless imperial courier, an eagle, and a cobra(? forgot the last ship) but nevertheless I still killed them on my space whale without losing shields :D

The AI is definitely a lot harder now!

Flying in wings is preferable in combat zones - you get torn apart otherwise. A mix of ships from tanks to light fighters works very well.

I have a similar issue flying into conflict zone in my Conda. They all turn on me. To be fair, I expect that they would, I'm big, I have lots of guns and I can hurt you. It makes sense to get rid of me.

Try using shield cell banks and chaff, you'll last a lot longer. :)

Once you upgrade the python they become easy to kill. Npc are still a joke.

A 'D' rated Python in combat?

You are taking a ship only suitable for trading into a fight sir - what do you expect? :)

Any chance you can take that T9 to a CZ or Military Strike and report back to us? ;)
I don't think the AI needs toning down. In fact, there is still room for improvement/challenge which is no doubt on the way. Let's not just expect to win an NPC engagement, especially against NPC combat pilots.
My advice, Hagglebeard, is to take a faster combat vessel and call the shots when you are engaging or not. I use the Viper and Courier for CZ escapades but there are others.

The AI loves to concentrate fire on you when you enter the conflict zone.

Just boost away from your entry-point until you leave the "hot bubble". Then turn around and figth the one ship that migth follow you. When you re-approach the battle, everything is fine and you may participate in the now more fun (due to Sarah's efforts) fighting just as usual.
Every now and then, some ships will concentrate fire on you again and you will have to (temporarily) retreat. But this is how it should be, imo.

Really, I don't think the AI is too hard now. We just have to adopt our tactics to the increased challenge.

I DID initially have a T9 setup with about 320 tons of cargo and a few SCBs but she's obviously not a fighter :D

I'm currently on the middle of the Centum Imperialis.

Considering the amount of money I am making, I don't mind rekitting once I finish the tour and seeing how she fairs and probably losing her a̶ ̶f̶e̶w̶ a lot of times :D

I'm at stop 80 if the slave count is high here I'll stay here for a while until tomorrow otherwise I'll continue to probably 85 out of 106.

LOL It's great taking on a single or wing of npc's kikkin me azz. You go Sarah, make me be good. Weeeeee
Get rid of scb's

I wish I knew where everyone else was regularly finding challenging AI opponents. :(

The only thing I've noticed them do better since 1.3 is power management, so it takes a bit longer to crack the shields.
