The Upper 4th Quadrant Sidey Meetup

The Upper 4th Quadrant Sidey Meetup was an enormous success! I think it is safe to say that all Sideys present in the Upper 4th Quadrant attended the meeting! :D

During the meetup CMDRs Frawd Digger and Jermus claimed the PRAEI BRE PO-I D9-15 system as "home far away from home" for all pilots of the Sidey Appreciation Society - Exploration Chatper (But let's be honoust: no matter how you kit your Sidey, if you manage to fly your sidewinder to this system you are considered to be an explorer ;) ).

the system map is slightly oversized when looked in its original resolution. We wanted to have a detaild map, so we can edit the map without loosing detail, e.g. to name planets and such.

The meetup started with a short introductory session near the first sun of the PRAEI BRE PO-I D9-15 system. During this session the CMDRs Frawd Digger and Jermus met for the first time in real life after having multiple sessions on the comms to organize this meetup.

CMDR Frawd Digger arrives at the meetup assembly point. Fun fact: It was supposed the be the other way around, but there was some, ehrm, getting used to wing navigation.

Discussing the plans of the day: First scanning all the planets of the first star, and taking pictures at the (let's hope so) water world.

Thereafter the crossing to the second star (~250.000 LS) and a stop on the first planet, after which the remaining planets will be scanned.
According to plan all the planets of the first star were scanned and a stop was made at the water world (yes! we thought so already based on the system map, but confirmation like this is always nice).

über cool. Two sidewinders near the far galactic rim (if we may say so?).

With a bit more water world in the background.
After having scanned all the planets of the first star the crossing was made to the second star. The first planet of this star happened to be a landfal planet (as well as the second and the third, but we chose the first for our "basecamp"). As a basecamp on this planet the edge of a large crater was chosen (in the area designated by the coordinates -26.83, 161.04).

Despite what CMDR Frawd Digger says (which sounds quite definite, alarming even) we did have time enough to conclude the meetup as planned and (maybe even more important) the CMDR has left the system safe for his journey back to the bubble.

A view from the side.
Icing on the cake :)! The last event of the meetup was not planned, but very welcome. We had a stop in the rings of the last planet of the second star, after which the meeting was concluded and all commanders went their own seperate ways out into the void...

With the planet in view.

Saying goodbye to CMDR Frawd Digger.

A short(-ish) video of 7:21 minutes about the meetup has been posted on plays.tv. The video is like vacation photos: better when you have been there, but it does give a nice impression of the total, so enjoy :)

During the meetup there was no time to discuss the naming of the planets. So expect the comss chatter in the Upper 4th Quadrant to be buzzing about this for the coming times. This thread will be updated when there is more information on this. Until then:

Fly safe,
CMDR Jermus

Well what can I say Cmdr...it was a pleasure meeting up with a fellow sidey pilot all the way out here in the black. It just goes to show, with the right pilot a sidey can do anything!!

Here are a few of my own pics from the visit. Not as good as yours but I have always had trouble with the bloody debug cam!!

Good luck on the next leg of your adventure Cmdr...I hope you don't find it too hard to get all the jumponium you need to get to BP. And give the Rock Rats a call if you need any help.

Congrats to both!
.
It might take us a few days... but if you send out a call, we'll do what we can to reach you (much faster now since Engineers :D ).

That's awesome, rep to both of you! Makes me want to get my Sidewinder out of storage and fly her around exploring for a bit.

Great meeting! :)

Thanks Cmdrs...it's always fun having meet-ups but this one was special...two sideys! Crazy!

This is soooo brilliant Commanders - have a Captain's Salute [praise]
I am probably about 35kLy away and will definitely come 'your' way to BP.
It should be possible for FD to fix permanent 'obelisks' ( a Sidey made of Polonium we could all shoot bits off???) of some sort at these locations for others to visit.
repped (or VRepped)

Thanks for the nice words, CMDRs.

I tried to write down what the meetup meant to me, but each try endep up looking... ehrm... well, weird .

So let's leave it at that it was special to me. I am still enjoying the afterglow :)

I do hope that I don't need your services. Not that I wouldn't want you to help me, but I brought an SRV with me and I intend to use it . Thanks for offer, though :).

Jermus, I'm departing Beagle Point now so I can meet up with you for some prospecting if needed.
CMDR Patrecleus
As stated above: I do hope I don't need others to prospect for me, but don't worry: if need be I'll call in any help I can get. You are more than welcome to visit me during my travels and prospecting.

I'd gladly see a pack of Sideys try and attack me. At least they won't mind NOT combat logging ;)
Thanks for the faith, cmdr :D! Keep watching threads with "[SAS]" as prefix to the title... you dit put up a nice challenge!

I will be putting in an official request to give SAS group status so keep an eye out.
I like that, Cmdr!

...I am probably about 35kLy away and will definitely come 'your' way to BP.
Oh, please, do come and visit :).

And thanks again for showing interest in two ... sidewinder pilots far from home.

Fly safe,

I have posted a video containing a compilation of the meetup on plays.tv (and updated the OP). The video is like vacation photos: better when you have been there, but it does give a nice impression of the meetup, so enjoy :)

Wow, you guys just keep raising the bar o7
BTW that paintjob makes it look like your Sidey is made of wooden panels:eek:[up]
