Hardware & Technical SATA Devices, and their too often loose cable and power cable

I hate it!

Seriously, both the data and power cables, not to mention the connections points (what's the English word?) are useless hunk of junks, i think it's highly time to came out with something more reliable!

In the other hand the Old ATA cables was much better, but harder to connect. Yeah, the new ones easy to handle, but that also means they are also too easily slipping.

The background, of the story, in the last day, i did some dustoff on my computer internals, (started to overheat so it was highly in time.) After that i noticed a lot of CRC error in my downloader, did HD check wit HD sentinel, defrag, CHKDSK ects. After a restart my HD not even seen by the BIOS, so i checked the connections. Now everything looks fine. I't was not the first time i encountered this error due the SATA cables uselesness but now its really starts to annoy me.[mad]
Just touch it and the connection is messed up.

Piece of trash. All of it!

I'm not so lucky, i had zero problems with the old time ATA cables, they was far more stable harder to slip because of the plug's buildup was better. But SATA? Maybe My HDs or the mainboard connectors are not completely up to the spec's but whatever the problem is, i have too much trouble with them basically every time i touch my machine internals i need to recheck it. And i just fed up with it. When you forced to download again about 10 GB's of data for multiple times, and spend a half day to bug hunt?

Anyway, the point is the SATA cable plug buildup is worst. This kind of connector & pug build is good for devices like USB, which is about to connect and disconnect the devices easily, but if you want something to stay connected for months or years with zero trouble? Stupid.

The best solution is to take sata cables with clip

Yep i have this still no use, the design is just bad, and it's not helps in the power cable either.

Edit; The problem is this kind of resolutions like the clips, they are just plastic surgery. It helps a bit, but for them the base concept not became any better.

Except of course when you are temporary connecting old SATA drives, to the motherboard, to check their condition and if anything on them is worth keeping, and then find you need to disconnect the normally permanent drives, and remember where each one is connected, so your not very stubby fingers can actually get between the gaps and remove the cables used for testing.

However we cannot deny that the cable sata is a big progress to gain of the place and have a better ventilation in the case of computer

Yeah, it's thinner, takes less space, but you know? :D

they can make the same thin, and in the same time can make something more lasting and reliable... :)

Just sayin! For example one of my sata connector in my old motherboard just given up, and broken. In My DVD drive the connector simply broken in the sata cable. When i pulled out the cable both half came.

Agree, and I've just gone to a M2 boot 512 GByte drive, which is absolutely miniature. The SATA SSD is now for my main stream programs and a 2½" 2TByte SSHD Hybrid for data. Dumped the internal DVD and gone to separate external USB BlueRay and DVD read/write players only plugged in when required.

I have to recognize that I have also broke a few connectors sata. They have made fragile for the trade, no doubt

And also way too loose, these two comes together. Not a good thing! Its easily connected, but as drawback they are also loose and easily damaged. How about to make something what's not so easily damaged, and the connection solid? Had enough to use WD 40 and always forced to recheck the connections. :p Not to mention my poor broken DVD data connector the joke is, i can still use it, because the plastic are stayed in the cable, but the metal pins remained undamaged. The problem is? It's always slips out. :D

I simply disconnected the DVD and only plugging in when i need it.

Well... looks like altrough i had a cable faliture for sure, but in the same time i also had one of my HD's nearing to end of his lifetime. (after 10 years if i might add.) And it was my system HD, so took me a half day to make a new Op system in another HD of mine. Currently i down to 3 HDD and TB out of 5 HDD and 4 TB. :D I will survive. The remaining 2 are still used as background storage, but unrelyable for extended use, and kept continiusly in my PC.

And to make the matters even worst one of my memory modules are failed, about 2 weeks ago so i down to 2 GB, what is not enough to play any new game, so i can only play ED after i buy a new Memory module.
