I am wondering how does elite dangerous due on a satellite connection

Latency is the issue with satellite internet - the time packets take to reach their destination & the response to come back. Solo should be fine, Multi-player would be a bit of a laggy mess I think and you may struggle to host an instance at all depending on your upload speed (if it's via the landline).

Peer 2 peer connectivity will likely be a problem with satellite, primarily due to high latency.
