Saturn Twin Planets

Hello everybody,

I have explored for a couple of months now but can't find Saturn twin planets. I know there are tons of ringed gas giants with many different textures but haven't found a single gas giant with the same texture (yellow color) as Saturn in the sol system. Were you able to find any gas giant with the same texture as Saturn? If yes, in what system/location? Can you post images? Thank you.

Hi CMDR,

why would you expect to find a gas giant with exactly the same texture as Saturn? As most of the planets are procedurally generated from different seeds, I would rather expect that no planet is exactly like the other. That makes exploring so interesting in the first place :).

In a galaxy with billions of stars and planets is just normal to assume there is a high chance for similarities. It would be amazing to fly by a twin Saturn hundreds of lights years from the Earth. At that distance and time from the Earth, a traveler would have a glimpse of home.

I am asking the question because in other games I played before (Eve Online and Drifter) planets all look the same which is not very realistic. I agree with you that diversity makes exploring more interesting. :)

So which class I gas giants are similar to Saturn in terms of texture and color? Please post images. Thank you.

If I took photos of every gas giant I came across then my hard drive would be full. Most people rarely take snaps of gas giants unless they are unusual. I wouldn't know if I came a cross a twin Saturn on my journeys as I don't know the exact texture of the original Saturn.
My advice is to get out there and look for yourself, as you are probably the only person who knows what to look for.

The texture of a Saturn twin would be something like the real Saturn in the game (with that yellow color). Please check the image below. I never found a class I gas giant planet like this so far.

Mmm. It is out of the ordinary. Another pic of Saturn;

You could probably find an approximation to it among the Class I gas giants if you looked long enough. I'll keep my eyes open.

I think I have seen a gas giant like this, however it's impossible to say where it was.
And I have forgotten to make a screenshot. :p

But it's possible too that the planet was slightly whiter, I'm not sure.

BTW : If you compare the rings of the real Saturn (photo made by Cassini) with the one in the game, It's quite amazing how good FDEV have done their job! [up]

when i was sitting in a A-class hypergiant system yesterday, in an asteroid-ring, thinking about this post, i saw how much the star-class changes the colours of a gas-giant.

so, i guess, a twin-saturn would also require a twin-star of sol to match colour.

if it isn't all different because handcrafted.

That is right. You need a G2 (or between G0 to G5) yellow dwarf star to get that Saturn yellow/butterscotch color. The atmosphere composition is also important. Let me know if any of you find a Saturn twin. It may be worth of a lot of credits. [yesnod]
