Saved game - noob question

Hi all.

Noob question here, but i want to be sure before i jump.

Im upgrading my Mobo, CPU,GPU and memory this week, and will need a clean install of windows. So, im wondering where my saved game file is. I suspect its sever side, but want to be sure, as i dont want to lose all of my hard work from the last few months.

Thanks in advance.

Game save is server side
If it were on the clients' computer, it could be exploited.

The only client side data is your keybindings, graphics settings, audio settings, and any other non-default settings.

I actually uninstalled the game few days ago and removed the installation folder as well as any other traces of the game.

When I installed the game again I found out that my keybinds were still the same, so it would seem those are server side too?

Keybinds are in a folder in the appdata location on your pc, so not server side but not cleared down by an uninstall.

Confusing old fashioned game terms are confusing.

'Save and exit'!?! It's like the developers of the UI aren't aware that the game saves in real time on the server...

That and calling it a pause menu. Legacy stuff from when there might have been a solo offline mode I guess. Should be changed going forward imo.

Its a safe way of insuring that your progress is actually updated on the server, as your progress isn't updated on every frame (hence why on game crash, sometimes a small bit of progress may be lost, whether it be a transaction reverted or lost cargo.)
Jumps illustrate this point. If you crash mid jump, your last save is prior to the jump, and re-saves post-jump.

Actually it's purpose is to tell the player they won't lose anything.

...also a dash of the fact that some of that work was done before they reneged on the promise to allow offline play?

I understand that ther is no way to have many different saves and come back ao an older one if you are not happy with the last one...

If something you don't like happens, you are toasted (i.e. you are "Wanted" and you'd like to go back to a save where you were not).
In short : You cannot use a previous save to come back to a point of the game you were happy with.

Correct ?
