sc scanner upgrade is needed.

the scanner that has to be targeted is in need of an upgrade. identifying ships, there should be a passive scan that scans in a 360. this could give info like, wanted, faction, ally, enemy. other info should stick with direct scan,including cr value.
a threat level indicator tagged to a cmdr this could help cmdr's out with advance warning. it also could put a dent in the griefers game.

no its not. the point is the ship shouldn't need to turn just for that data. you can make a decision to turn or not. thow you would still have to lock on to the target first!

Given that it's possible (and I've seen it done) where a Player having been scanned will attack the scanning ship (me); I don't think this is a wise suggestion.

Because a passive scan for determining being wanted would have the same effect as pointing and scanning.. Before you know it, you're feeling your butt where your face was as the wanted commander is slamming you with a good morning, it's surprise butt-sex time.

Let's not add to the surprise, please?
