Scale in Planet Coaster - Smaller walls.

My problem with PlanCo (Seemingly like a lot of people) is the scale feels off, everything is HUGE. Such series' as BroCoaster, Geekism and Jubilee Gardensmention this a lot and try to make more realistic buildings but it's still difficult due to the fact wall pieces are 4x4 (?)

With the smaller grid option being implemented properly in the Adventure Update would there ever be a possibility of us having smaller wall sections? Maybe 2x2, or thinner sections like 4 high and 2 wide?

I think walls are far too high, it's noticable when you plonk a door on a wall piece and you have so much room above the door. In real life you have only under say 30cm before the ceiling in most buildings over here. In Planco when you place a door on a wall you end up with what looks like around 4ft of room left.

I suppose it's unlikely but one can dream!

About the standard hight of 4m:
There is a section in the digital artbook that explains this a little bit. They had to decide between a base hight of 3m or 4m:
"The outcome of the height test emerged as we suspected.
From a player’s perspective the higher walls allowed more room for more theming to please the guests and also gave players the opportunity to make an impressive, grand park a little faster.
Critically the 4m height allowed players to more easily incorporate coasters into buildings.
Breaking down the artificial gameplay barriers between scenery and rides was important to the whole development team."

If you really need lower wall sections though, you can always use the 2m and 1m high pieces.

About the standard width of 4m:
I totally agree, now that they included a 1m and 2m grid option some 1m and 2m wide wall pieces would be awesome. In some situations those would come in very handy.

If I had to pick i'd definitely take the smaller width ones, you could make a shop that didn't look like a small square but not also a really huge building

This is probably my biggest gripe with the game. You are always fighting to reign in the scale.
4 metres isn't really that small if you actually measure it in real space. If you look at a row of tills in your local McDonald's, for example, there certainly Isn't 4m between them. So the in game shop units are too big straightaway. Vertically, it's the height of second story windows in many buildings. And doors on average are no way this size.

1 and 2 metre width walls would make life so much easier. Dark rides for example would be able to have more compact, detailed interiors.

The scale on the scenery pieces is also far too big in most cases.

I love this game and it is very beautiful. But I really hope the devs look into this problem, and I think it's quite a serious one, from a creative standpoint. Making custom signs and detailing things, especially interiors, is hindered so much when you want to make it a realistic scale.

So I would like future additions to be better scaled. Plus smaller versions of at least some, if not all the pieces we have that are oversized would be very welcome. I know that would be a lot of work, but I think it would be massively appreciated.

I'v requested this one myself a long time ago, and seen it pass by a few times but so far not much response from Frontier.

On the bright side, we did get the 1x1 grid wich could be a part/start for some smaller walls sets.
Since we did get a few pieces with a 1x1 dimension (non grid) in the adventure pack we hopefully will see more of it in 2018.

The scale for scenery is an other story, some parts are "on scale" some are "off scale"... Not sure why it so, but I assume it's due to different designers on the projects, some might work with different measuring systems and end up with models that are a bit larger as expected/intended... not that uncommen in the designer world. Also depending on their design styles it could result in some difference, for example moddeling with a free-hand most likely will result in "out of scale" moddels. As a graphic designer myself I can relate to these things that it happens alot, free-hand art is most of the time quicker, more beautifull and has a realistic touch to it (except for scale).

It's really ALOT of models (2000+) for planet coaster, so to start scaling them all over again would also mean new texture mapping might be needed for some pieces... and that's time consumming to say the least.

Anyway don't give your hopes up, if we shout loud enough they might hear us :D

The most common problem I run into when creating buildings is needing 2m wide walls.
It's one of those things that causes you to end up using far more pieces than necessary, because of that lacking item.

Yep, me too.

4m as the default size makes sense (thanks Wessy!), but there's no reason for us to be enslaved to it -- people who want to work in more realistic scale should have the means to do so. Simplest thing the devs could do to start is give us a scale tool that works on scenery and building pieces.

1m and 2m wide walls definitely needed - I am not so bothered about height as I can manipulate pieces to do lower ceilings.
