Scan Navigation Beacon for Mission Locations

Hi All,

Just a small question regarding missions;
I had to find 2 unique nerve agents on a planet. I saw that i could go scan the navigation beacon to get the location, so I did. (did not played the beta, so this is pretty much all new to me)
I got info of the exact planet, so I went over and landed, starting to drive around in my SRV to find some signals.
The 3rd signal I've found got a lot of loot, as well as the 2 nerve agents I needed.

I was not paying that much attention at the time, but I remember I did not get a mission update. When I was flying off, I also saw the new POI in my list for the mission about 1Mm away on the planet, where the nerve agents probably would be (did not know that I would get an exact location).

So unfortunately, after arriving back at the station, I could not hand in the mission and had to sell the nerve agents on the market.

Question, Is this intended? Do you need to get to the exact location you get from the navigation beacon in the system? Since 2.1 I really started to enjoy missions again, but I don't have much experience with them. I love the idea to get the exact location, but since going around and looking for random POI's used to work I just want to confirm that this is not possible anymore.

Thanks in advance! Fly Safe.

Yes, you should've looked in the exact location. It will start a short scavenger hunt mechanic before it leads you the correct location. I think it's just a coincidence that you found nerve agents in another POI, those missions usually require 'unique' cargo so that you can't just buy them in the commodities market or find them anywhere else.

After scanning nav beacon or using d-scanner:

if mission target is uss in space. Go near target planet, pretty close but don't drop from sc. Sooner or later you will see Blue mission target uss appear and the ship voice say it to you and you get text to info box. Uss is also blue in nav panel.

if mission is on planet. Fly towards the planet and when you are close the planet will have new zone called search zone or something similiar. Its market with orange circle on planet like any untargeted settlements or surface bases. Target this search zone (can't remember from my head if it says mission target or not) Then go towards it and land to planet. When you get closer to it it will update the location t different one and this usually happens about 5 times. The final one will be named something different but the mission target cargo will sit in middle of the marker. You don't need to target anything since you have targeted the search zone before you started the landing.
