Scanning data-points at the Bug Killer crash site?

Anybody else done this since the update yesterday?

Can you still scan the data-points with the SRV?

Took my Krait across to Palin to finally get an XFX put on the DD5s and thought I'd stop off at the Bug Killer crash site on the way back to the bubble to hoover up some mat's.

Being a smartass, I hovered over the site and scanned all the data-points from my ship.
No problems there.
Got high-grade data.

Landed, deployed SRV, dismissed ship, re-logged.
Tried to scan one of the data-points and... nothing.
It's not giving me the "already scanned" icon in the crosshairs but I just can't scan them.
Tried scanning one of the cargo racks and that scans as it should.

Recalled my ship, boarded it, tried scanning the data-points.
No problems again.
Got more high-grade data.

Back into SRV, re-logged and tried again.
Same thing.
Scan doesn't work using SRV scanner.
SRV scanner scans cargo racks (and anything else I point it at) perfectly.
Board ship, scan data-points and it works.

Surely they haven't changed things so you can only scan the data-points from a ship, thus requiring you to deploy the SRV to get the mat's and then board your ship to get the data?
I mean, that'd just be a [redacted]'s trick.

*EDIT*

Well, alrighty...

Seems that Open mode is the problem.
In Solo or a PG the SRV's scanner works properly.
In Open mode, it doesn't scan data-points (the ones at the Bug Killer site, at least).

So, anybody know if this is a bug or a feature?

And, should I be concerned that it's sometimes not obvious which is which?
