Horizons Scanning of outcrops beneficial?

When collecting materials, do we get a higher yield or more rare materials when we scan the outcrops etc?
I have tried not scanning a few times and felt I had a lower yield, but that might have been voodoo

Thanks for the link, though I believe the OP there does not address this specific question.

Does anyone else have any input about this?

I don't think there is anything like that. What are you using to scan the rocks with?

Just the regular scanner of the SRV, the one that has to be assigned to a firegroup, though its name escapes me at the moment.

Ahh, the link scanner. It not supposed to increase yield I don't think. As far as i know it only works on the data points/access terminals in POI/bases.

Right, the link scanner. Hmm, good to know, Ill do some more comparisons and see what I find.

It doesn't do anything to outcrops. Like someone else said, it's only for scanning data ports.

However I wish it could scan outcrops to find out what they are before shooting them and collecting the stuff. Would save me time. Half the time I am leaving the stuff where it is because I am full! Or have too much of that type already.
