Newcomer / Intro Scanning Planets

What am I doing wrong? .....

I want to see a planet mineral composition so I know if it's worthwhile to land and take my SRV to mine things like Chromium, etc.
So, in a system, there are planets, but they "haven't been mapped." These are well within the bubble, and undoubtedly have been mapped, but ok... I target the planet. I go into my DSS, launch probes, circle the planet to get 90% coverage and get the message that I've mapped the planet.
I go back into my system view, and it shows "you have mapped this planet" but there is still no mineral composition for it.
Am I missing something?

ISTR someone else also mentioning this a few days ago on the forums. Sorry, don't remember much more about it than this. Maybe add a screenshot to remove all doubts about mapping and landable planets.

The DSS is used for mapping planetary features like bio signs and geological areas.
If you want to see planetary materials you need to use the FSS to do a system scan.
However if you are that close to a planet then your ships auto scan should have already picked them up.

Hmmm...... this sounds very similar to my recent problem....

Hi, yes, the planet was landable. I logged out for an hour, came back, did it again and now it worked. Hopefully it was an isolated thing.
