Scanning plant life etc

Well I pretty over this I go some distance even fly to another part of the planet and my scanner won't scan the same plant. (Get 3 samples they say .. right) I iether get not enough biological diversity even though I've gone million of miles from last sample taken. I now have about 4 different plant types scanned iether 1 scan or 2 at best but for the life of me I cant get the 3rd. Thats if the scanner scans. Yep I ve done the Scan for life form process. still no help it may scan green .. but as soon as you try to use the genetic sampler it just is dead and wont sample. Any suggestions? Secondly does the part samples taken remain in the canister and does the scanner automatically remember which canister is for which sample? Sorry about all the questions hopefully theres some answers because genetic sampling is just getting to hard.

1) You can only scan one type of plant at a time. If you try to scan another it will reset and you lose the one you had.
2) The distance required is variable by plant. None of them require more than 1000 meters of distance. Some only require 100 meters.
3) When scanning you sometimes have to move around a bit to get a good angle. It's not usually hard at all.

The rest is just up to experience, really. It's not that bad at all.

two more questions
1. is there a way of scanning for where plants are on a planet.
2. If I get 3 types scanned and in the barrel (so to speak) when I arrived at bio trader my data only had 1 species to sell where did the oyhers go?

thanks

1) The DSS tells you where a life form could be found, the basic conditions are correct, then it's up to personal experience and gathered knowledge to know the exact conditions, that is things like do they grow on flat ground or on mountains, sand or ice etc. You DSS and use the controls to scroll through different bio types.

2) The bio is sold by planet/system and not differentiated unless you open planet/system by clicking on it in the interface, so you won't see mutliple bio's in the basic window but you will get paid for multiple bio's even if you don't see them, only the detailed window where you can then sell individual bio's can you see the details of all bio's for one planet.

Right click on the mouse (if set up) and the genomic scanner will send out a pulse around you, un-scanned plant life will glow green as the pulse rolls over it.
Anything that is another type of plant from what you are scanning, or if you’re too close to this next batch, will glow blue/purple.

There is an issue when scanning, in that the target angle frequently disappears, even when you are stood right in front of the plant.
Just move away and move back and try again.

Good. I always advise people, if you are in an area where a bio is supposed to be and see none after a good search, look for areas that differ from the current ground type. For instance if you are flying over sandy ground and can't find bio x, go up a bit and look around for gulleys or rocky outcrops etc and they will probably be there. Once you get a feeling for what sort of geology a bio prefers it becomes much easier.
