When did this become a thing? I have had two successful on me today, both from authority vessels, one whilst I was actually in the Bulletin Board and both Comm'd me to tell me I was clear to go. Just glad I'm on the right side of the law today, could just imagine sitting in my ship reading the Galnet news and getting decimated by Station security.

If they can see your ship through the mail slot, they can scan you...hence, its always a good idea to actually enter the hanger when you arrive, to prevent sniper scans, since once you're in, you're invisible.
Military outpost patrols will scan you while you're sitting on the pad...
Ive been scanning npcs & cmdrs from outside stations for a while looking for possible bounties. Not generally very profitable but quite fun.
