Scarab boarding ship is a NIGHTMARE!!

I use an X52 flight system to play this game. It makes the flight super intense and fun. But trying to control the scarab with it is very challenging. And the fact that in order to board an SRV back onto a ship, one has to drive backwards into the hold and be PERFECTLY aligned. It is so frustrating! It would be great to have a docking computer like those that can be equipped to a ship. But at the very very least let me just drive forwards towards my ship and allow a little wiggle room. I mean c'mon these ships are equipped with a grabbing arm that can easily reach and rotate to whatever degree is necessary. What is the logic of making this process so difficult and laborious?

I have an X52 pro but have no problems with it myself. Pretty sure you can go in at any direction. The thing that grabs the SRV to take it into the ship spins you around to face the right direction.

I have an X52 Pro also.

The twist is what I use to turn the buggy left and right! Together with the X-axis for roll if it gets 'airborn' it's practically the same as controlling a ship.

Also you can simply drive in forwards to the docking postion under the ship - no need to go in backwards.

Agreed. Boarding your spacecraft is more difficult then it should be. It does get easier with practice but it would be nice if you could simply select 'board ship' from within a certain distance of the ship to initiate an automated boarding sequence.

I've only been able to enter the ship by going in backwards. I'll attempt it a few more times forward to see if I can get it.

Thats pretty strange!

Never had a problem myself with the direction I was facing.

Actually getting under the ship IS sometimes a problem, and ocasionally I even have to dismiss the ship and recall it so that it lands somewhere else.

Edit - what ship are you using?

Actually you're right. I was able to get it that time. Kind of ironic I was never able to get it forwards but was able to backwards.

I'm in a Diamondback Explorer.

Also any idea what the "proceed to boarding point" button does? It seems to always be red.

I'm flying an Asp, but find that coming in from the side is easiest. It does not matter what way you face, once directly under the bay you can dock with the ship, and it will turn your SRV around while loading it.

As said, you can approach from any direction if the terrain allows you to. Simply drive under slowly until the light is lit and ht the brakes. Select the board option and the ship will orientate the SRV as appropriate and bring it up.

Docking the SRV is easy.
Just drive under the orange docking hologram, and wait for the board ship light to light up(bottom right near cargo scoop). Doesn't matter what way your facing, the ship will spin tour either to face front or rear. Using the handbrake on a hill is a good way to stop you rolling away while trying to use the role panel. Lol
