Scarab Inventory Full message - doesn't empty upon boarding ship

I have been out farming materials at Dav's Hope for Engineer upgrades and my SRV is reporting Inventory Full in the cargo match scanner UI when I try target another. When boarding and disembarking the ship, is doesn't resolve the issue. Does this mean the Ship Material Inventory is full? Can I jettison some lower grade ones to try for higher grade? Whast is the Ship Materials capacity, as I have no cargo and only about 2900 materials from a rough count.

Ahhh - does that mean I was trying to collect a material that was 'full' in the Materials Inventory screen and I could still collect other materials then? And is there anyway to filter what the Scarab collects or dump the 'full' materials?

The full meter in your Inventory is what's full, not the scarab. Trade it at a nearby mat trader (or use it for engineering) to free up space.

Seems that wasn't the cure - went to see Material Trader and they allow me to select the material which is the one with a full inventory bar in the ship view, but won't allow me to select any material to trade for - when I try to select a number of a material to trade for I get a warning saying "Warning! Material Capacity Limit Reached"

This sounds like what's happening when you give directions to someone:
  • Turn Left! (they turn right!)
  • The Other Left!

It's the other way round.
Select the mat you want to get, then select the mat you want to trade.
