Scavenging the titan carcasses

Went in there once looking for the drive component thingies. Didn't find any, but found a lot of other stuff like tissue samples and whatnot. What's worth nabbing and what merely takes up valuable cargo space? (Not counting monetary value - currently only concerned about things I can use to make stuff like extra-juicy SCO drives)

Propulsion Elements

Edit: the TDC and prop elements are the only 2 unlock mats that come from a Titan debris field. The other required mats to unlock the SCO FSD V1’s are normal engineering materials; check the wiki pages for the rest of the materials and the required quantities for whatever size/grade FSD you are interested in. Note that all SCO FSD unlocks only unlock 1 of the selected size/grade. If you want multiples, each one needs to be unlocked individually with these materials.

If you don’t like that, remember that I am not the complainant department 😝

If you find any caustic crystals, grab those too. They're one of the ingredients for the anti-anti-guardian field engineering. It's not very useful for now since there are no more titans to bomb, but who knows they could come in handy again in a year or three.
The above is true. Unfortunately the limiting material for the anti-Guardian field mod is the Hardened Surface Fragments, which I believe can only be obtained by mining on a live Titan, which no longer exist. I am not aware of any way to get these any more. Maybe someone will reply with another method to obtain them.

got 1 drive component at cocijo after 2hrs
we got boosted mats, we have sco, we could get a bit better rng on the drives... those few ly extra pretty much arent worth the hussle.
at least im too hungover to do anything else... ^^

It can take a while but there are some things that you can do to increase your chances. Use long range sensors. Zoom around to cover a lot of distance. Check all areas around the debris field up to a range of of 15-17 km.

Also, this part is highly speculative and maybe it’s just my imagination, but I destroy any undesired commodities and I think that slightly increases the spawn rate. My speculative theory is that these POI’s try to maintain a certain amount of debris and when you destroy some, it spawns more. No guarantees. I will say that I have upgraded approximately 40 of my ships with the SCO v1 drives and I still have around 25 TDC’s on my FC for future use, and my collection rates are much shorter that 1 per 2 hours. It’s more like a range from a couple of minutes to about 15 minutes. If I don’t find one for 15 minutes, I exit and re-enter the debris field to reset the instance. These methods have worked well enough for me.

i have a rated long distance sensors. always for this.

you dont have to destroy things nor reset instance. it has rolling de/spawn. when you get distance from a mat it will despawn and new ones will spawn before you regularly.

btw spent another hour here and got 1 more. "yay"

That's elite's exciting and interesting gameplay at its best.
That's right up there with the likes of 'waiting for a train' or standing in the que at the bank.

Flimley
Come on now... It's more fun than watching paint dry or the corn growing. And I've been to a few places that the aforementioned activities were high on the list of local tourist attractions... 😴

got three TDCs, roughly one every 15min, with a-rated long range scanners, fast ship, zipping around along the edges of the debris field, roughly 15km from center, destroying all unwanted floating cargo to speed up spawns - without destroying other cargo, it could take hours

I'm not sure how much of that is placebo, especially when you're "zipping around" at high speed. Things do despawn rather quickly when they're outside scanner range. But I guess it won't hurt.

I figure while I'm there anything that doesn't take cargo space (materials) I grab it it's close. You never know when you'll need it for the new thermal upgrade or such.
