SCBs and Distributor complaints......

Hi,

I would also like to complain about a few things.....

1. Since the update, Shield Cell Banks require LOTS of energy and give much LESS charges! Why in the first place SCBs require energe since they are supposed to be precharged for only a few uses that require credits. I could understand the power drain in the case that they were recharging from the powerplant, but why so much power just to be there?

2. On my ASP with 4A class Distributor the 500.000 credit Beams drain almost as fast the capacitors as they were on my Cobra with a 3A Distributor that provided just a fraction of the 4As energy.

...and a question. What is the difference between 4A Cell Banks and 5A Cell Banks. I have both installed on my ASP ( and turn on one at a time) and the seem to have exactly the same effect....

A complaint, there's a shock ;)

1. Cheap Maplin capacitors that leak like a sieve, need to be constantly charged.
2. And your point is?

I think it amounts to the amount of recharge you get - based on the size of shield, and also how many 'shots' you get?

Not sure about that last, I'll admit :)

I didn't think cells were a problem but apparently FD did. Time to adapt and move on I'm afraid. It's just different now. You wait until they implement module heat overspill damage in 1.02.

The point is that A3 and A4 Distributors should give different performance.

When I was playing with the Cobra, I had a one Beam setup that did not drain the capacitor. I could fire for more than 30 seconds before it heated up. I assumed that buying a bigger ship with a bigger size Distributor could do the same with 2 Beams! Well It does not. With two Beams I spend more time waiting than firing even with all 4 pips on weapons.

With the new update, I think the ASP became more sluggish to control.

I will try it some more and maybe I will get back to the Cobra....

*** Nice one with the Maplin Caps....

Almost everyone (except those 5 people that started a thread about it) thought SCB would be way overpowered and are destroying skillful PVP, because it just comes down to who has the most SCB. They were also called magic health portions and 1 button win banks (made up the last one).

If you bother to use the forum search you will learn that a lot if people asked for a nerd, I think they weren't all employed by FDEV.

Don't forget that C1 weapons on an Asp do more damage than C1 weapons on an Eagle. FDEV have confirmed that this is the case, so no point in arguing about it ;)

Maplin? More like Craplin! They monopolized the entire capacitor market with shady business dealings; put the Coralinus Corp out of the trade altogether. Despicable.

A4 does have a bigger capacity and recharge rate than the A3 just not twice
It is only one size bigger it isnt going to be able to sustain twice as many beam lasers

Other way around isn't it, class 1 weapons do less damage to medium ships than small ships
Size of weapon vs size of Target
Not
Size on weapon vs size of ship mounting it

The 4A has 32 MJ capacity and 3.5 MJ/s recharge rate, the 3A has 24 MJ capacity and 2.8 MJ/s recharge rate. That's not a huge difference.

Only difference is the number of charges. 7 charges in the 4A, 8 in the 5A.

Actually I do not know about the 4A....I have 5A and 3A on my ASP and both give just 4. They used to give 10 and 8 before the update... and really faster!

This fine gentleman has summarised it exactly, you gain 0.7mj/s recharge for a 4 over a 3, so around 25% faster than a cobra.
