Scenery Pack Animal Upgrade [Utopia]

Recently I thought about the Europe Pack. Although I like every animal in it, somehow it feels "incomplete" to me. It is very difficult to represent a whole continent or region with just 5 animals (or with 8). Some exclusions were understandable (Eurasian Brown Bear and Wisent), but some were not. So I wondered how my ideal 8 animal Europe Pack would look. And it was lots of fun, so I did it for all Scenery Packs to date (considering there's more DLC to come) :)

Arctic Pack: Polar Bear, Reindeer, Arctic Wolf, Dall Sheep, Musk Ox, Wolverine, Arctic Hare, Walrus

South America Pack: Llama, Giant Anteater, Jaguar, Colombian White-Faced Capuchin Monkey, Red-Eyed Tree Frog, Maned Wolf, Capybara, Spectacled Bear

Australia Pack: Red Kangaroo, Dingo, Southern Cassowary, Koala, Eastern Blue Tongued Lizard, Common Wombat, Platypus, Tasmanian Devil

Aquatic Pack: King Penguin, Giant Otter, Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman, Grey Seal, Diamondback Terrapin, West Indian Manatee, Fishing Cat, Atlantic Puffin

Africa Pack: African Penguin, Meerkat, Fennec Fox, Southern White Rhinoceros, Sacred Scarab Beetle, Hamadryas Baboon, Addax, Secretary Bird

Europe Pack: European Fallow Deer, Eurasian Lynx, Alpine Ibex. European Badger, Fire Salamander, Red Fox, Barbary Macaque, Wild Boar

Some of those packs look amazing! Knowing that this is very unlikely (impossible), do you have any suggestions? How would your upgrade look?
Greetings

Arctic Pack: Musk ox, wolverine, red-breasted goose, European adder
South America pack: Patagonian mara, maned wolf, white-nosed coati
Australia pack: Common wombat, tasmanian devil, emu
Aquatic pack: Capybara, roseate spoonbill, Asian water monitor
Africa pack: Mantled guereza, red river hog, helmeted guineafowl
Europe pack: Red deer, white stork, Dalmatian pelican

Arctic Pack: Musk ox, Wolverine, Walrus, Alaskan Wood Frog
South America pack: Coati, Greater Rhea, Black Howler
Australia pack: Tasmanian Devil, Common Wombat, Bennet's Tree Kangaroo
Aquatic pack: Marine Iguana, Green Anaconda, Little Blue Penguin
Africa pack: Red River Hog, Addax, Caracal
Europe pack: Wild Boar, Chamois, Red Fox

This is a really cool idea. My tier ranking for the DLCs would completely change based on this.

So this is for adding three more Habitat species in each pack or four Habitat species? Then here's my ideas.

Arctic Pack: Musk ox, walrus (could/might be Aquatic too), wolverine, and Arctic hare. Could lemmings be Exhibit?
South America pack: Capybara, ocelot, and squirrel monkey. Could green anaconda be Exhibit or Habitat? If Habitat, its enclosure have to be like giant version of Exhibit cage.
Australia pack: Either perentie or lesser goanna, emu, and any other kangaroo and wallaby species that could last and breed in captivity.
Aquatic pack: Walrus (could/might be Arctic too), rockhopper penguin, and green sea turtle.
Africa pack: African leopard, any baboon species, and dromedary camel.
Europe pack: Wild boar, red fox (Any fence types those couldn't climb? One red fox in Zootopia), and common genet.

I wanted to include gibbons, reticulated python and king cobra but Southeast Asia pack had maximum and those couldn't be part of those location packs.

Arctic Pack: Musk ox, Wolverine, Walrus, Alaskan Wood Frog
South America pack: Coati, Greater Rhea, Black Howler
Australia pack: Tasmanian Devil, Common Wombat, Bennet's Tree Kangaroo

There weren't marine iguanas in captivities. Were they?

I know I had seen some pics of Marine Iguanas in zoos, but I did a search on it. Looks like Ecuador bans any current exporting of marine iguanas from the Galapagos, but there are a bunch currently in the pet trade, and every so often a few of them will pop up in a zoo. Tokyo Zoo had a marine iguana exhibit 5-ish years ago, and I think one of the California zoos may have some.

Fun idea!

Let me think...

Add ons for each pack:

  • Arctic pack: Musk Ox, Atlantic puffin, Wolverine, Siberian newt (E)
  • South America pack: Capybara, Maned wolf, Scarlet Ibis
  • Australia Pack: Perentie, Emu, Tasmanian Devil
  • Aquatic Pack: Platypus, Mandarin Duck, Marine Iguana (i would love a manatee but they don't fit the pack imo since they are fully aquatic animals and despite its name the pack roster are all semiaquatic animals)
  • Africa pack: Secretary bird, African leopard, Scimitar horned oryx
  • Europe pack: Red fox, Wild boar, Western capercaillie

And since we are at it, if scenery packs get 8 animals as a base then the animal packs should get... idk 10-12?

South East Asia pack: White cheek gibbon, Sumatran Rhino, Asian small clawed otter, Temminck's tragopan
North America pack: Wapiti, Mountain goat, Wild eastern turkey, American black bear (what it really needs is a bald eagle but we know the no birds norm at the moment)

Do you have a source on any of this? From what I can find most tries of keeping them in captivity in zoos were done in the 1930s and 60s but failed because of their specialized diet. There might be some in private hands, which would be illegal in most (if not all) cases. A bunch in the pet trade sounds very odd to me.

These are all good but I'd also like an upgrade to the deluxe edition pack

No more beta access means that its asking price for 3 animals is legit a scam

AR Pack:
Musk Ox, Wolverine, Cackling Goose

SA Pack:

AU Pack:
Bennett's Wallaby, Common Wombat, Emu

AQ Pack:
Snapping Turtle, Capybara, Blue Penguin

AF Pack:

The above link is one that I found. Yes of course they would largely be in the illegal pet trade, and I would hazard a guess that a lot of them are hydrids with other iguanas such as the Fiji.

An animal that is only in captivity because of the illegal pet trade is not a good choice for a zoo game, which wants to show the positive aspects of zoos. In my opinion at least. Of course, you might have a different approach to the game than me, which is fair.

Breeding hybrids is usually more complicated than breeding pure species, and we don't know of any successful breeding of marine iguanas in captivity, so the chances of anyone being successful with hybrids sounds unlikely. Especially trying with a species like the Fiji, which is much smaller than the marine. Most likely all Marine Iguanas in captivity (if there is any left) are wild-caught.

Arctic
Musk ox, Wolverine, sandhill crane and wood frog
SA

Aquatic

Yeah I guess I do have a different approach than you. I don't think any currently existing animal in the world should be off-limits. Obviously animals that are currently featured in zoos should get higher priority, but I don't have any issue with non-zoo animals being added, especially endangered ones. If people have an issue with a particular animal being in-game, whether Orcas, marine iguanas, or anything else they can just choose not to use them. No harm done. In the end, PZ is not a conservation plan, it is a PC game. Awareness is how we learn the vast majority of our knowledge about animals. I guarantee you some players have never heard of this animal and don't know anything about it. Adding it to the game would help spread that awareness just a little further.
I 100% understand your approach. I'm not knocking it. I just disagree.

My thought on the hybrids was just a guess, and I was assuming most of these alleged iguana hybrid breedings would have been accidental, but I'm an idiot so I could just be wrong. My knowledge on the illegal pet trade is very limited, not to mention knowing much of anything about iguana inter-breeding.

I will add that a very highly-requested animal is the Ethiopian Wolf, which, along with all other animals from Ethiopia, is banned from export from the country. Yet a lot of people want it in-game, along with lesser support for the Walia Ibex and Mountain Nyala, even though none of those(to my knowledge) exist in zoos. But I agree with these people with the idea of adding them...it would raise awareness even though many who take a more "purist" approach would disagree.
Just a few thoughts

Arctic
  • Muskox.
  • Wolverine.
  • Snow goose.

South America
  • Nine-banded armadillo.
  • Bush dog.
  • Spectacled bear.

Australia
  • Tasmanian devil.
  • Common wombat.
  • Eastern quoll.
(omitting the emu because two major ratites in one pack would never fly (badum..tsh)).

Aquatic
  • Great white pelican.
  • Capybara.
  • Atlantic puffin (would probably realistically need an aviary, but I like them enough to bend the rules).

Africa
  • Hamadryas baboon.
  • Red river hog.
  • Addax.

Europe
  • Red fox.
  • Western capercaillie.
  • European pine marten.

Out of curiosity, does the Alaskan wood frog actually have a significant captive presence or is it just picked as the only really viable exhibit animal option for the Arctic Pack?

I like most of your choices @Jun_Kasai andjust replaced those were I want something different.

Arctic Pack: Polar Bear, Reindeer, Arctic Wolf, Dall Sheep, Musk Ox, Wolverine, Harbor Seal, Walrus

Europe Pack: European Fallow Deer, Eurasian Lynx, Alpine Ibex. European Badger, Fire Salamander, Red Fox, Barbary Macaque, Wild Boar

Please notice eveybody that I included 3 additional birds. That is not a sign of me being kindnapped or hacked, I promise. I actually want those birds, as long as we have additional spots. Now give me a cookie.

Making extensions to the existing packs is one of the things that I love to do the most 🤩
I thought that I would add the Deluxe pack to this list since it is the most incomplete of them all in my opinion.

I have made some edits after announcement of the Wetlands pack

Deluxe:
1. Red River hog
2. Striped hyena
3. Somali wild donkey
4. Addax
Ex: Plumed basilisk

Arctic:
1. Arctic hare
2. Musk ox
3. Wolverine
Ex. Common lizard

SA:
1. Coati
2. Maned wolf
3. Howler monkey

Australia:
1. Tree kangaroo
2. Wombat
3. Emu

Aquatic:
1. Walrus
2. Shoebill
3. Père David’s deer

Africa:
1. Serval
2. Scimitar oryx
3. Mantled guereza

Europe:

If I could add anything to SEA AP that would be Sumatran rhino and Lion tailed macaque (Yes I know it’s from South West India) and to NA AP the North american porcupine and Racoon
Please also add the African civet to the base game and Giant Eland as a year one anniversary animal and I would be the happiest man on earth with my zoo’s finally being complete 🤩
