Schizophrenic paint-jobs?

Here's a pic' of my latest ship, adorned with the rather nifty "Arrowhead" paint-job.

Maybe it's just me but I particularly like the orange applied to the wings, tail and spoiler.
I just like the way it adds a bit of colour.

And here's a pic' of the same ship - with the same paint-job and kit parts - a couple of minutes later.

This isn't an aberration.

In the 2 hours I was using the ship, last night, it just randomly changed colour constantly. [where is it]

Doubleyou to the Tee to the Eff?

Have you tried repairing the paintjob?
Maybe instead of getting worn out, the paint just "switched off" on the kit parts.

Otherwise it is a pretty sneaky and back-stabby update.

I didn't touch anything between those shots.

I only bought the ship last night.
First shot was taken just after I left Farseer at Deciat.
2nd shot was taken 4 jumps later, at Tiana Fortunes', after lightening the Collectors (hence why the ident changed to reflect the extra jump-range).

I know various paint-jobs have changed after updates (presumably after somebody's revised the way the colours are applied) but this one seems to just be flat-out unstable and just keeps changing at random.

Pretty sure it's not the only one that does that either. It's just the first time I've snagged a pic' of it.

Did you ever realize that the so called arrowhead paint looks VERY similar to the ATARI sign? :D

Patch Notes 3.0.2 stated in that SPOILER section "Amended Stealthie's Paintjob to facilitate harvesting of salt for future use" ;-)

That does look like a bug, if you launch and look at ship outside base/station is it still missing?

Well, I guess that might explain why it's broken. :p

Like I said, I'm pretty sure I've noticed this on other paint-jobs too.
I was just wondering if anybody else has seen the same thing.

The ship textures are stored in your files, so changing them would require a client-side update and a restart.
You should bug report it. Maybe someone will shed light onto this.

Hmm. One picture is in actual flight, the other in the hangar. It'd be interesting to see, when you several times use the hangar and check in normal flight, if your pattern would change, or if both places for themselves are consistent.
.
Anyway, this clearly is a bug and you should report it.

Sheesh, so even the paintjobs are subject to RNG now?!?

Okay, I thought I'd show you what it's like....

Last night I left the ship parked-up at Fortune's in Achenar - where it had white kit-parts.

Just fired up the game.
Here's me leaving Fortune's base.

And we still have the white parts.

So, next step was to nip across to Leesti and get my Shield Boosters modded.
Here's me landing at Vatermann's.

And the paint stayed white for the entire trip.
Okay, not what I wanted but at least it's stable.

Got the SB's modded but didn't have enough mat's to apply the effect I wanted so I thought I'd head over to the Trader at Janes Horizons in Arexe.
Here's me arriving in Arexe.

D'oh! Or, erm, Yay! Orange paint is back! [where is it]

And then it gets really good.
Here's me landing at Janes Horizons.

Still orange but the pic's kind of dark so let's take a better one.

Wait! What?

And now I'm on the pad at Jane's Horizons.

[wacky]

To be honest that is quite funny.
But yes i would report it as a bug.

There are paints out there which change color depending on the light that shines on them or the angle you look at them, but this here is just weird.

As the shipbody stays the same, it seems to be an error with the wing kit.

It all depends on the mapping of the parts, as quite a number of my kits simply do not match the ships paint and this could be an extension of that.

I think your paintjob is one of the new AI variants. It's trying to point out that there's no reason for a spaceship to have a spoiler. Since it doesn't have direct access to COVAS, this is the best it can do to get your attention.

I like the Arrowhead though; I use it too.

Dunno, for me the entire side of your ship looks blurry in Screen 2 compared to screen one.

I would have the feeling that this looks like a unfinished laoded asset by the GPU and maybe this unfinished loading is what causes the color yet not to apply on ship parts. But thats just how it feels looking at the detail level if the entire sides "skin" of your ship

Eithe rthis, or ther eis actually too much to load in total and your GPu dumps down quality in general. But ther eis surely a quality level difference between both screens that I would point towards some GPU related handling.

Some of the other screens you posted look fine by quality. Can you test if "cam range" to your ship alters the color when using the free range cam?
