So I usually don't watch that little blue bar creep across the screen for 5hrs.
Because when I don't watch it the speed goes through the roof and then I come back to find only ten minutes remaining , no wait, twenty minutes, no an hour, four , five damn it!

When I'm not in the room the speed is awesome but as soon as I go to check the speed is rubbish! How will I ever know if it's finished? It's as bad as that light in the damn fridge!

Maybe I should have gone out instead.

im good with cats. thus my download speed seems to be consistently increasing.

its currently at 0.20 though - not much unlike the speed you could succeed in herding cats.

I got it started and then left for the day. I will only observe the event when I go home in a few hours.

Use Steam. They have enough download capacity for everyone.

can i download from steam despite having acquired the game from frontier?

will it modify my installation to always require steam?

if not i can get over these godless 0.06 - 4 day download speeds im seeing in frontier launcher...

you know if you plug in your HORTAS before the download and push the throttle all the way foward you get an increase in speed

0.22 with 9 hours.

if i close the launcher and re launch it it temporarily goes up to 3.0~ MB/sec, only to go down to 0.20s slowly.

godless download speed.

isnt there any way to fix this?

my anti virus (kaspersky) has entire thing in exclusions - it doesnt even scan the traffic or program.

You can get free Steam keys for ED and ED Horizons in the Frontier store for your already purchased titles. If you install the game via Steam, Steam is managing the download for that installation. Of course, you can uninstall and reinstall via Frontier if you want, to get back to the old system. Apart from the ultra quick download (47 MBit/s for my 50 MBit/s DSL line) and access to the ED steam forum, there are no changes to the game.

Woke up this morning and it was finished... Just have to do 7 hours of work, feed my daughter, give her a bath, put her to bed, tidy the kitchen, tidy the living room... THEN I can play :)
