General / Off-Topic Schumacher will participate in the F1 Grand Prix this week end

Well yeah of course, it's largely the car. That doesn't quite explain why Bottas is off the top step though (or even off the podium).
Well done George! Well done Perez!!
If you didn't see the race, you won't know, how badly the pit crew messed it up. They put the front tyres from Botas's car onto Russell's car. Then they put Botas's old hard tyres back onto his car; which meant that Botas had to do the last 20 laps, on bad tyres.

That said. Russell, beat Botas fair and square. From the start. He then kept a good distance, in front. Aced the restarts and made Botas, look like a second class driver.

Agreed: An excellent drive from Perez.

I did see the race (avid fan) and it was amazing to see the cascade of damage from what was apparently a small fault, broken intercom in the pit lane? Crazy.

I like Bottas and he's obviously a fast driver on the track but when other cars are involved has fallen short for a lack racing instinct most of the season for me. Terrible starts off the grid the last two or three races haven't helped but if only Verstappen could actually finish a race, Bottas could easily have come in 3rd in championship.

Hamilton has racing instinct and George for me proved he's got it too .. Bottas I think needs it and soon. I think Lewis has had the measure of his team mate, bossing it all season with canny calls .. often times knowing when not to pit. He has had some bad luck (silverstone!) but I feel Bottas sometimes needs to stand up to his team maybe.

I think that the main issue with the Merc, is that it is great at leading from the front, but in traffic, it is third rate. That then becomes Botas's main issue, because he is mostly behind someone. Verstappen, like Russell, I noted, tend to get out of the wake of the car in-front.

That's a definite point with the car. Somehow though Hamilton gets it to work because although he has led quite a lot, Lewis hasn't led every lap. I see Bottas as conservative in this regard. Lewis (and George the other day) tending to attack the position, to get by quickly, perhaps knowing the car will suffer otherwise, whereas I can barely remember the last time Valteri even tried an overtake on a car that's competing with him.

Perhaps it's something to do with where in the circuit each driver gets their speed? Total speculation now but if you gain consistent thousandths by carrying speed through corners (maybe Bottas) then you're just going to follow a lot of cars through a lot of corners. If instead you gain one or two hundredths by late braking into a couple of corners, you beat the car ahead into the turn and you're past.

Maybe it's that innate sense of how much grip you have, Bottas had how many spins in Turkey? A few. Verstappen several. Hamilton ran wide at least once but spins (I think) was none.

So the golden boy has won Sports personality of the year, for the second time.

Now he is to be offered a Knight hood. Logically, he should turn it down, due to its Imperialist connotations, but he won't. He likes the kudos, the glory and of course; the attention it will get him.

not really. She is not the one choosing the people. It all about that which we cannot speak. Old school tie croneyism. The likes of Hamilton are more for the press and to distract, from the likes of the new lord, who paid for favours etc..
