Schwarzschild radius Hunting (vid)

The Schwarzschild Radius of a Black Hole- the Event Horizon- is also the visible apparent "edge" of its lensing- as such, it is the radius it would appear to the naked eye, if given a perfect unobstructed (and un spaghettified) view. At that apparent radius, its black (any light trying to lens around it gets eaten).

I wanted to see if I could see one. And, honestly, to see if the visual effects of Black holes got any love in recent Beta updates.

The video speaks for itself on the lensing, visuals, and warping of the space around it. I knew of a good Black hole in the Pleaides, which offered a well lit and colored backdrop to see the lensing more clearly (sorry about the loud music- was "rockin" to Hungarian Rhapsody #2 at the time- and didn't realize Shadowplay would capture that as well)

Houston, we have a hole (0:24), a mind warping wrenching of the spacetime continuum, as well as a pilots soiled underwear. That was entirely too close. While expecting to drop from supercruise with a "too close" warning, my horror at just getting closer and closer unabated put my nerves through a wringer.

While I consoled myself at the time of less than 400km with the "logic" that Framshift drive was reactioness and faster than light- and that I should be able to fly by it safely, part of the space nerd animal in me worried about my basic simulated existentialism. I believe I felt the cold shock of panic sweats, if only for a millisecond.

So there you have it folks, the state of black hole representation to date in Beta3
