General / Off-Topic Sci-fi Space Art

I came across some awesome works today and felt the need to share. We don't have an OT so if there's a more appropriate forum for this then I don't know about it. edit: oh there is an OT? :D

Great stuff. I gave in recently and bought some collected works by Chris Foss, John Harris, and Simon Stalenhag (Tales From The Loop) etc

Good sources for musical inspiration as well as Elite designs!

Look to the cover artwork of the Lensman books by E.E. "Doc" Smith, the "Cities in Flight" books by James Blish, the "Foundation" books by Isaac Asimov...

That thread is awesome! And thank you for link to the books.

The modern art style is nice, I dig the clean and crisp look, I dabble in it myself (not sci-fi) but there's something about stuff done in 70's through 90's that has this thing about it... It's like comparing digital photos of today and old polaroids and film of yesterday; even if you try to emulate the look with photoshop.

I do really like this style however, which is common among sci-fi artists though I'm not sure how long it's been around but it seems like a fairly recent one. It's got that feel like the old stuff. It doesn't seek perfection, and has the artists spirit imprint.

You're very welcome! And I agree, I love the conceptual feel of that kind of art where you imagination is fueled rather than just having all the information thrown at you.
