Scooping Crash Stops.

Before 1.3 I had a ship with 97% hull. I had traveled 13.5K LY and had one close brush with a star in that time. Today I have 94% hull and have had three emergency crash stops while scooping since 1.3. The temp was not that high, but it is throwing me out of SC far too much.

Am I alone on this or has anyone else noticed the same?

I'm getting a lot of disconnects...but nothing like what you are describing. I think I must use a different scoop technique than you.

When I took damage the first encounter I never left supercruise and hit 108F. Took some damage but kept on going.

Today the temp was 73 and it chucked me out of SC. No smoke on the dash or anything. Once in real space the temp was 63.

I have not changed how I scoop and I'm pretty darned good after 2000 systems, so something is different in my mind.

Like Himilco I'm disconnecting every third jump or so (so I've stopped playing till next patch at least) but fuel scooping hasn't changed for me, heat is the same if not less and that's on every scoopable star except O as I haven't run into one yet since 1.3.

between this and the reports of all the FSD jump crashes and canopy breeches, I think Im just going to avoid elite dangerous entirely until they get it together. Ive got weeks of data and an already cracked window, I dont see any point risking all that for a bug. Hopefully it will be playable soon.

Getting a lot of disconnects, lost my Commander Data, Support managed to retrieve it, and I find I am constantly overshooting targets in SC, never really happened before, so now I have to slow down a lot sooner. No scooping issues, although I do have the mother of all scoops so it doesnt take me long.

It is always good to "X" when in witch space so your throttle is a zero when jumping into a new system. It does save your hull a lot of damage. Though I must admit a moments inattention will lead to accidents :)

No issues with star entry (I always zero). It just feels like the scooping is more "sensitive". I've slowed to half my normal speed and no issue but Its taking a lot longer to scoop now.

I just did 2Kly today and didn't have any crashes out of SC or overtemp issues. Of course my Sidewinder always takes a long time to fill with the tiny scoop.

However, before 1.3, I could have sworn my FSD was at 94% integrity but it was 90% when I logged in the first time after the patch. Hull, and FSD and all the others haven't been decreasing markedly just from jumping. It's been probably 15-20 hours since I had an emergency stop, and that was my fault for messing up.

Im not showing any difference in scooping - I enter the system @ 0% then line up to the Sun's rim edge line @25% throttle & scoop!

Disconnects are annoying, but they are only occurring after 2100hrs UK time for me (not fully sure as Im not playing as much during the day - wife...kitchen...decorate please!). Maybe it's a traffic thing.
Sometimes i give up for the night, sometimes i just keep reloading - it doesn't take any longer than loading a system map!

Iv noticed Im overshooting more too. Though that's through not paying attention! I'm 4k LSs from a body...I look away for what MUST be only 5 secs...look back & hear engines whining & overshooting.
Maybe it's me & my complacency, Iv been out for weeks now....just need to keep my eye on the ball!

I did a couple of speed runs last night, one heading away from Sag A* towards my first targetted Nebula, then another for 1000LY away from that Nebula in the direction of the next one.

I made the runs in the same way as my Buckyball Run to Sag A* in 1.2 - Keep throttle at 100%, hit jump as soon as the cooldown clock has finished, check the next star by glancing at the Galmap (just in case it's a Neutron). The only change from my racing method was that I glance at the system map while the FSD is charging and cancel the jump if I spot any waterworlds/earthlikes.

Everything seemed to be as it was in 1.2, there's a chance that the temp rises faster when scooping while the FSD is charging, but the ones that caught me out were Type Fs and they sometimes toasted my ship a little on the way to Sag A* as well.

Note that my ship's an Asp with an A6 scoop and a cool running class A2 reactor, so I've not had a temp of greater than 110% since leaving Sol.

Since no one else seems to be experiencing the same problems as you (and I'm clearly using a much riskier flight style than you), I'm wondering it you have orbital rings showing or hidden? I have them showing because the gravity well always catches me out if I switch them off - especially with type M stars, their minimum distance is huge in comparison to larger stars.

If you have orbital rings switched off, then perhaps FD have tweaked the sizes of the minimum orbit, as it sounds like you are being pulled out of FSD by approaching too close rather than by over-temperature.
