Scrap the USS

I like USS sites to be honest as it presents the unknown to me as a explorer, so I hope they can keep them in the game.

What if our ships scanners could scan a USS to see what is inside of it before we jump in would this help alleviate the problems ?

Once scanned we could either ignore it at which point it would vanish from our HUD and navigation or investigate.

One thing CCP did well in Eve Online was the scanning and anomalies in the game. I loved that aspect of the game and could do that for hours on end, if it had a solo mode i would still be playing it. I often went to the test server to just explore ans scan systems and wormholes.

Just a thought maybe if the mission is to look for cargo we are given a carrier signal ID that the cargo would send out if lost. We would get a beep on our ship when we got near to the site and the closer we got the quicker it would beep. When the ship is at a certain range the sensors would pick up the site of the lost cargo and allow us to exit SC near to it.

USS do mostly remove any sort of skill to playing the game, lately I have been dropping into USS and picking up all manner of rare items numerous times for free and selling them at the same station that I know has a black market. The only skill is avoiding the scan at the entrance. Otherwise its an extremely monotonous way to play. Yes I agree they should be removed and bulletin board missions used instead for all of the missions. Alternatively they should be reduced massively in terms of chance of occurrence - you should stumble across some rare items maybe once every few days of playing not ten times an hour.

There are just "Buy resources" USS that are showing this Text, so you don't have to leave supercruise just to see you don't wanted to go there.
This is an improvement. I am looking forward to more of this kind unless they come to an other solution.
There could be USS labeled as "Distress Signal" with either wrecks, ships under attack or just a pirate trap in it.
Other could say "Cargo Canister" or "Black Box" Signal detected and such. And please: Stop this from 1 USS grows 3 USS nearby mechanic.
This Cries: Game Mechanic, not real signal in space.

Those Wanted Ships with 2-3 Police just flying around untill you came in is indeed not immersive at all, just awkward.
Its like every time i enter the space near a Station the Police Ships Spawn at the same point and spread from there.
This cries: "Its Scripted!" Not: "This is a living universe. Where things going their ways, rather you're around or not"
I was ok with all this in the Beta, but the Game release way rushed. It's not done and have to be completed.
And this is not for Planetary Landing or Walking Around or such, it is for the basic game.
Too much basic filled up and not deep thought about quick shot stuff all around. But i'm confident this will getting better.

The cargo one finds in USS sites can be used to hand in for any of the smuggling missions. So for example you pick up a black box in Aulin and head to a outpost and land there. Look on the mission boards and see if there is a mission asking for a black box. It doesn't matter what the target system is. Just that they need a black box. You can accept the mission and hand in your black box that you found in Aulin. No travel needed and you already have the item. Big cash payout for something you don't have to do along with a nice big fat juicy reputation gain.[/QUOTE]

I noticed this too after getting frustrated searching a system for black boxes. Gave up after an hour and went to another system to bounty hunt. Dropped into a USS and found some black boxes. I turned them in for the mission reward and they were accepted. Pretty cheap mechanic when you can basically search anywhere for a mission item and get credit for them. There is no doubt this was not thought out. No need to follow the mission , just go anywhere and find similar item.

yes please! Eve has the best scanning and exploring mechanics. Very fun and requires skill to find things.

I hope that their current use as general spawns for missions is placeholder.
I hope that this persistent NPC mechanic as well as proper event driven content will be implemented soon.
I like USS's as random encounters, not as mission spawns. It makes ED feel like any other wait for the spawn MMO, with no depth.
