screen erosion when in 2560x1440

Hi, I've been running the game in native 2560x1440 mode with no problems until this week when I started to do planetary ring mining. I find that after a while (around an hour or so) my display starts to 'erode' ie, the display goes black starting at the edges and gets worse moving in towards the centre of the screen. When this is happening if I move my ship the black area grows and covers new areas (as if there is an alpha overlay which isn't displaying and just covering everything with black)

if I drop to the menu then everything is fine, but when I go back to the game it's black again..if I change my resolution to 1920x1080 the problem goes away and has so far never re-occured.

I'm running win10 on an i7 3770 cpu with 16GB RAM and an Nvidia GT1030 to an AOC monitor via HDMI.

That's an, interesting resolution for a GT 1030 to be attempting to run at... Quite possibly far too much for it to handle.

In other words it pretty much is your hardware causing the issue. At that resolution your GPU will have run out of VRAM (ED can use up all 2Gb at 720p let alone 1440p). Even if it had enough VRAM the gpu itself is nowhere near powerful enough for gaming at that resolution either.

Basically, stick to 1080p or spend beer chits on a better GPU to play at your chosen resolution.

Hi Cmdr
I had a very similar problem and cured it by installing (+++beer chits) an RTX 2080 GPU with 8Gb GDDR... problem solved now playing at 3440x1440*... 105 fps steady on max settings.
*(I upgraded my monitor at the same time to a 34'' Ultra-Wide)

(IF you go this route; try and get the card with the highest amount of GDDR onboard that you can afford/justify)

beer tokens aren't a problem, space however is. I'm struggling to find anything better that will fit into my mini ITX case and still have decent airflow.. Any suggestions?

this is what I need to fit into:
