Screen Jumping

Sometimes I used to get an issue a lot when I lost positional tracking and the graphics become saturated. This would happen after maybe a minute, and hour, a few hours or not at all sometimes. Only way to fix it was to alt tab out of the game and set the rift to direct, then back to extended. I tried a USB powered hub which seemed to make it worse actually. Like your issue this only happened while playing Elite.

Its been pretty good recently though, not as bad as a couple of months back for sure. It seemed to occur during moments of stutter so perhaps now that that has been looked into, that's helped my camera tracking issue as well.

Well I purchased the powered hub (the one in the link from the post above). As I suspected the case would be - it makes no difference what so ever.

My first 30 mins or so of game play were fine, then out of the blue the screen started to jump again... Hands over the DK2, lost tracking, removed hand, everything was fine again for about 10 mins. Repeat, everything fine for about an hour. All in all throughout my 2 hours of game time the screen jumping happened about 4 times....

As I say, its not a fault with my PC. All other Rift titles, even those made by indies and new time developers work fine without this problem. The problem has occurred both on my previous rig and my brand new build so it's nothing related to my PC either... The problem started (I think) when the Wings release came out.

I think I have the solution to this. Check your Nvidia Control Panel and make sure the Enable stereoscopic 3D option is unchecked in the "Set up stereoscopic 3D" section. I was having that issue yesterday and was at a loss, and realised that I had switched 3D on for the first time in yonks to try it out on my new screen.

Sorry but that does not work for me - Both my machines were Nvidia 3D vision enabled devices (personally I wouldn't touch AMD with a barge pole), however 3D is switched off. I only enable it when playing stereo 3D games, which is never now that I have a VR headset. I double checked to be sure and the option is indeed unchecked.

Maybe you had a lucky game session where the bug didn't rear it's ugly head, I too have play sessions like this, then on a different play session out of the blue the screen jumping returns.

I saw your other post regarding this issue, OC'n you CPU makes no difference either, I have tried on both stock and OC'd CPU's on two different rigs. System temps are low on my systems (20's for non OC and late 20's to early 30's on OC) due to water cooling.

Yeah, you are right, it was a red herring. Another clue I have is that I've noticed lately if my rift has been off for a while, when I try to turn it on, nothing happens. I have to unplug the cables directly from the rift and plug them back in and that brings it on - but it seems to be after this that I can't play without it spazzing out constantly. Do you get the same?

I think the rift is just starting to die, I'm going to think about getting it replaced. Apparently oculus are good like that
