Screenshots from within Elite Dangerous

I've seen an heard a bunch of folk asking how to take sceenshots from Elite Dangerous, and even more asking where they go...

SO
To take a screenshot press 'F10'

That will then put a screenshot into
The Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous folder in your 'pictures' folder. I.E.
C:\Users\[USER NAME]\Pictures\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous

I tried F10 but it dosnt do anything, ive worked out if i press the windows(pic button) and Prt Scr button, i can get a screenshot that way(obviously not better then just pressing one key, but works)

Any idea why my F10 wouldn't work? am using wins 8.1

The folder it saves them to was hidden by default on my system.
Probably worth checking if it doesn't seem to be working

where did you find your folder? am looking around but cant find any, its not a big deal as the other way works and have access to those screenshots files, just wondering why my F10 dosnt work or seem to be

My other way when i do it, the screen goes grey briefly so i know it worked, does F10 do the same thing?

If you know the extension (jpg, png, bmp, others ...) of files screenshots, perhaps, you can find them, using the function "Search " of Windows ?

If you can't find the folder because it's hidden, you will need to enable the viewing of 'hidden' folders...

Click on: Start -> Control Panel -> Folder Options

On the 'View' tab, select 'Show hidden files, folders and drives'

Click 'OK'

Hidden folders will now be visible to you.

Press 'Start' again, and in the search box type %appdata% (including the percentage signs) and press 'Enter'. That'll get you close, so then you just double-click on 'Roaming', 'Frontier Developments', 'Elite Dangerous' and 'Screenshots' in that order.

The way I normally get to the %APPDATA% etc folder is by going to the windows menu, then run... then just type (or copy / paste) the path in.

ED could add a shortcut in the start menu for the final release installer.

PS: Or sooner to encourage more people to share ED screenshots on their social networks during beta/gamma ;)

You didn't mistake it for the F5 button waiting for the last Alpha update did you? @D

I did wonder where they were stored though. :D

:D ah thats where am going wrong! the F5key is so worn i dont think i can mistake it!

will check Rogs idea but again no big deal, as found a way and know where those screenshots are....sounds from the advice given though that my F10 is working just need to find the hidden folders.

Whats a good site to upload my Pics to and get a URL? As it seems that you need a URL to post a pic in this forum. Or am i doing it wrong?

I use Savepic which is a site easy to use and reliable. I think it is in Russian and I translate into my language by right-clicking on the home page and "Always translate this site to ..." in Google Chrome. But there must be many other sites in all languages --- http://savepic.org/

Fastest way to access the folder is:
Win+R
type appdata, press ok
Go to \Roaming\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Screenshots

I’ve not been able to take in-game screenshots since upgrading to Alpha 4, I’ve followed the (forum) instructions meticulously but no joy. I only have screenshots from pre alpha 4 in the relevant folder.
