SCUM

It seems that the market disagrees, imho, there is still a market for such a game, specially after DayZ never delivered on its promises.
Right now SCUM ranks in the top 15 Steam Games while Dayz lies dead in the water at 196th in Steam charts.
I don't know for sure, but imho, it's the game DelayZ wanted to be and that's why the people bought it.
If the game can be the successor of DayZ remains to be seen, but it looks like it will outsell DayZ by a countrymile if the trend continues.

I'm just about to pull the purchase button on that one myself...

I'm interested too, but I'll wait a few more month and I'll wait and see how the development continues.

Ok I did bite the bullet, and the game is actually very good, the crafting is great, the UI is almost like DayZ and then it's not.
I like the fight mechanics, the clunkiness of DayZ is not there, much more fluid and I like it.

I don't like how you aim with firearms, but until now a good spear is just enough.

The original Scumm :)

Very buggy, very bland and very like any other survival game out there - NEXT!

It's kind of funny, because I find it almost bug free, sure I got some CTD but they are rare. Also lost some of my loot but again not really an issue.

I must say compared to DayZ it's a great game, no wonder they sold 700.000 copies in one week, this is what DayZ should have been.

Single play is really a great option and to play a survival game without the usual trolls is really liberating. Actually this game is a mixture of several games,
but the strong crafting is great. Need an ax? no problem, just craft one, need a knife, no problem just make one.

The zombies are also good, strong and fast but not overpowered. I think this type of game is appealing to some but not all, I like to get by living of the land,
build a camp, keep my character healthy. The game also works a lot like DayZ so many of the mechanics are clearly just a copy and it helps.

For DayZ to keep up they need to get a SP version out, and not only a SP version but a story driven one.

Same here, I've only had one CTD in about 20 hrs. I think they just need to flesh SP out a bit. Add missions and NPC's and maybe a few more enemy types (zombie cyborgs might be cool since they already have chips in their heads and we already have robots).

I like the survival aspect even though I totally ignore crafting, I like sneaking into bunkers past the robots to grab the best guns etc.

I find the robots really hard to get by, I died many time to get into the under ground bunkers.
So now I just live of the land, and it's pretty easy. It's amazing what you can do with a stone ax and a wood spear.

The best part is that the game is very fluid, not the chunkiness DayZ has, so when you fight the Z's you can actually calculate when to hit and when to move. Also I love that I can jump into windows, crawl up, jump high fences something DayZ never had.
