SDK 0.4.4

Not tried it myself, but looking at the update notes this looks interesting

High-quality distortion enabled via the ‘ovrDistortionCap_HqDistortion’ flag now applies optimized sub-sampling for better anti-aliasing of high-frequency details visible in the periphery of the eye buffer textures. (Currently only available in D3D11)

I wonder if that will improve the blurriness in the peripheral vision? Guess we'll have to wait for Frontier to update E:D to the new SDK to see. Apart from that I don't really see anything else in the release notes that would have any benefit in E:D.

Vignetta fix the more important part of this update!!! FoV feels much better again and wider. This is a great update!.

I have just updated to 0.4.4 - I only had time to try tutorial in asteroids shooting canisters. However:

FOV much better thanks to no vignette
I managed to put all settings on max except shadows, blur and ambient occlusion (previously had to run on low)

No sign of judder.

All in all from my very limited test test it looks good.

Make sure you uninstall the Oculus run time from add remove programs before installing the new 0.4.4 run time.

I will try with some Metallic asteroids later.. they really gave me bad stutter and 5fps before this.

Why did you uninstall it. I just ran it and reset-up IPD?

The FOV seems odd to me at first, but really makes you look around the cockpit more as I found doing a hot run into a station and view in got obscured by the roof lining.

Frontier have to compile ED against the new SDK 0.4.4 Beta first. Until that and with only the new Runtime nothing will change for us atm.

Not true at all, it's more similiar to say microsoft's .net framework. When they update the runtime they can change the behavior underneath the application. While they can add new API calls and offer new functionality some benefits are immediately available without a recompile.
