Sean Murray loves Elite!

Elite Dangerous has been mentioned in an interview with Sean Murray, about the upcoming No Man's Sky.
For those who don't know him yet, Sean Murray is one of the founders and managing director of the video game company Hello Games.

So, it turns out that he loves Elite!
Indeed, that's not very surprising for somebody who is passionate about science fiction.

I read this a while back - he had played it as a kid and it had inspired him and formed part of the seed that germinated into NMS.

Sean always comes across as being such an enthusiastic and genuine guy, and I'm really looking forward to NMS every bit as much as I am ED 2.x, 3, 4... etc...

With all the screaming "normal" gamers do left right and center in terms of what is 'best', yet another developer putting in word like this is hopefully going to make people become more aware that there's no real reason to 'hate' other games.

Even though No Man's Sky fantasy take on space sims doesn't really sparks any interest in me, I wish them all the best and hope its another huge hit.

Space games need love, and more more successful they become, the more games of the genre will be made.

Same for me, I am very much looking forward to NMS which is an entirely different game than ED.

Sean Murray plays a tech geek on NCIS, so I was wondering if there was a possibility that he was actually a real geek and used some of his NCIS money to start a studio.

Yeah, he really comes across as a decent, honest guy. I love the comment he previously made about "Sony told me not to use the word 'boring' about this game". Hah.

The reason I'm really looking forward to the entry of No Man's Sky into the space game universe is how it's game play will contrast with Elite Dangerous. As this Sean Murray has said the NMS team it not trying to make a REALISTIC space simulation, but focusing more on making a fun to play space exploration game. Some people will really go for that!

Elite Dangerous is a tough game to start because you have to learn so much. Just launching off the pad is an accomplishment in ED. It looks as if NMS, on the other hand, will make taking off and landing a no-brainer and not very dangerous at all. When I start playing NMS, I'm not sure how I will like it. It may seam much less immersive to me because it seams much less real.

I can't wait to try it though.

It's good to hear that Sean Murray enjoys the game. I don't think No Mans Sky will be my cup of tea, but I'll have to take another look after it's introduced. It is always good to have more games in the genre to choose from and for developers to draw inspiration from.
