Search containers to find the item

So I am trying to complete my first mission... and this is what I find...

I can't get under the scarab to get to the storage, and I don't know what else to do. I've tried leaving and coming back but it always shows up inside the terrain.

Any tips or suggestions?

There should be containers lying around, did you search them?

I found the mission items in them.

Once I had to relog () because the items didn't spawn...



Not quite unrelated: what's this?

They are movable objects, have to cut lose with the arc cutter, but you can't grab them? Any ideas?

They're raw ship engineering mats. They behave the same way as the cargo racks at Horizons crashed ships in that you can shoot them open for 1-2 materials, or if you get out and cut the maglocks off instead they drop more. You can collect them in your SRV but in my experience at the moment they often cause a crash when you pick one up.
