Search for Miacke

Hi,

I am currently exploring around the sector grid coordinates 370,1440

It seems mostly unexplored, I've been noticing a few worlds with high ammonia content in their atmosphere.

Unfortunately I only took a couple of screenshots and I can't post them until I have made 3 posts.

Clever idea - though note the direction of Polaris is rather different, so you may need to translate the coordinate systems a bit.

What led you to those coordinates?

In the old FFE game, Miackce (note the spelling, with two "C"s) was the final destination of the Thargoid storyline, a rest stop for the remnant of the Thargoid fleet. It's co-ordinates, in the original game, were [37, 140]. An old-game sector grid was 10 light-years a side and the ED co-ordinates are 1 LY a side, so you'd need to include a 10x multiplication somewhere in your conversions.

Yes. There is some discussion on the practicality, or otherwise, of attempting to convert FE2/FFE 2-D co-ordinates into ED 3-D co-ordinates in this thread. But basically, you can't simply multiply the ED X and Z co-ordinates by 10 and go there; you need to rotate the co-ordinate system first, because the old-game map was based on "North" being the direction the north pole of Earth is pointing, rather than the direction of the Galactic Core.

Apologies for the NecroThread.
This dates from before I got in a sidewinder and left Trevethick Dock.

I'm researching what is known about the Mycoid Virus, and I've found that in FFE the Thargoid homeworld was Miackce.
Nothing shows up in eddb.io

So I'm wondering if this search lead to a dead end?
The homeworld retconned out.

Does anyone know the angle between the Sol - Polaris axis and galactic North?

I'm not suggesting we'll find the Thargoid homeworld in-game, but there might be an Easter egg with a clue.
You know "Mic Turner was here" or "The Alliance have a yeast infection".

Basically I'm trying to get inside Michael Brooks head on this.
"Mycoid Virus" is that a virus that acts on fungi or does it have some of the properties of fungi?

Michael Brooks is into the C'thulu mythos - so I'm re-reading my HP Lovecraft looking for fungus references.

- Here's a question: Was Michael Brooks a producer on FFE?
When he referred to the Alliance as "traitors" - which bit of lore is he referring to?

Also - are you personally ready for Elite Dangerous on 'shrooms?

I know I am:

I wasn't ready for those Shrooms I took in Amsterdam.

Hawaiian or Mexican ones I think. Whatever their ethnicity they were about six inches long and full of darkness. Nothing like our native happy fungus at all.

I struggled that night. Recalling it makes me shudder even now.
